Russian property is Russian property, whether or not other people have a minority interest.

It's not just that "other people have a minority interest." It's that other people are the beneficiaries of the asset that has been destroyed.

Any owner is the beneficiary of his interest in property.

And so?

This is war. There are rules, and this has been thoroughly thrashed out over hundreds of years. If neutral cargos are in a combatant nations ship that is sunk or seized, rightly, then it is up to the courts to allocate liability.

In this case that will be an interesting question.

Looking broader, considering the economic damage the Russians have inflicted on Ukraine, any liability claims by western investors, should they be taken seriously, will be dwarfed by Russian liabilities to Ukrainians and western investors in Ukraine. It will end up, ultimately, being an adjustment on the Russians tab.
