Ukraine pierces Russian border, triggering fierce clashes

MOSCOW (Reuters) -Russia said on Wednesday it was fighting intense battles against Ukrainian forces that had penetrated its southern border near a major natural gas transmission hub in one of the largest incursions into Russian territory since the war began.

Russia has advanced this year after the failure of Ukraine's 2023 counteroffensive to achieve any major gains, and has taken 420 sq km (162 sq miles) of territory from Ukrainian forces since June 14, Russian officials say.

Ukraine struck back on Tuesday, and battles continued through the night into Wednesday as Ukrainian forces pushed to the northwest of the border town of Sudzha, 530 km (330 miles) southwest of Moscow, Russia's defence ministry said.

"The Kyiv regime has launched another major provocation," President Vladimir Putin told members of the Russian government, referring to the attack in Russia's Kursk region.

Ah, nat gas. I wondered what the goal of the attack was. Have they captured or destroyed it?

Putin will use this as a reason for massive mobilization, and the Duma will have no choice but to approve it. And yes, small battlefield nukes will be used in Ukraine before the UAF implements the insane plan to capture a nuclear power plant in the Kursk region.

Last week Alexander M. was hinting that the Pentagon was contacted by the Russian defense ministry about a potential crazy UAF initiative. This looks like it.

This war needs to end. Ukraine and Russia should be our allies in destroying China. Instead China sits back and watches while it’s two biggest enemies the United States and Russia weaken themselves. Xi seems to be a student of history and Stalins strategy to conquer Europe.

Pot; meet clack kettle.
At the first use of battlefield nukes by Russia, the Ukes should use NATO supplied battlefield nukes against Putin’s forces as well. Tit for Tat. Force them to go to the brink and prove that the weapons they say they have such as small nukes, do indeed really work (I’m skeptical). Any Russian gains need to come only at an upward stair stepping of horrific costs to them. Disproportionate horrible costs. Only way for the Ukes to get to negotiate from a better position. The UKES say they will not capitulate. That is what not capitulating might look like.

NATO is trying to provoke Russia by having their cannon fodder proxies cross this redline, but it won’t work. Leftists are desperate to get Russia riled up and lashing back, so they can use it to their advantage against Trump and to maintain power in the US. I expect Russia to keep to a slow-paced strategy of incremental gains and no major retaliation ahead of the US election to frustrate the leftist warmonger party.

At this point, Ukraine's only hope is to further involve the US and EU. Their goal is to "stir the pot."

Given that about 25%-30% of EU gas usage still comes from Russia, Ukraine probably feels this is a good way to do it. And teach those recalcitrant Hungarians and Slovaks a lesson. Spot Nat Gas prices up bigly today in EU.

Proportionally more Russian people will approve mobilization than Ukrainian people will approve continuing to be drafted to be cannon fodder.

First land invasion of Russia since the Wehrmacht in WWII. Also happening at Kursk. Any historical significance there?

Imagine the Japanese again bombing Pearl Harbor. What would Americans say?

Its sheer deluded neocon fantasy to think the Russian people are not 100% in it to win it.

The Russian people might be smart enough to know that this is only the result of Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Do you really think that Russia can attack another country and that country cannot fight back?

The Russian people do not believe what you believe. They do not share the DC-centric globalist world view, that Zeepers and neocons gaslight Americans with. They have their own history, and they are not subjected to MSM propaganda.

You've begun to scratch the surface of the delusion, and reason why NATO will bring itself to ruin.

Over 30 ukes spoken to in the last 3 weeks.

They all say the same thing. They blame zelensky and the west for all the troubles. Isn’t that special? Maybe we shouldn’t be meddling, maybe there is more going on than most know? I remember the media during the Balkan conflict, then I did two tours there. Media lied and lied hard. Blatant lies that got many killed.

Hungarians should hit the west part and take their land back. Why not? Seems anything goes these days.

Since this is the 3rd time Russia has been invaded in the past 2 years, it must be the charm for Russia to nuke its own people and cities. Definite genius move.
