A Pakistani national with purported ties to Iran was arrested last month on charges he plotted to assassinate former President Donald Trump and multiple other public officials, according to a criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court.
While the criminal complaint does not mention Trump by name, multiple sources familiar with the case told ABC News one of the intended targets of the alleged plot was Trump.
After spending time in Iran, Asif Merchant flew from Pakistan to the U.S. to recruit hitmen to carry out the alleged plot, according to a detention memo. The person he contacted was a confidential informant working with the FBI, according to the criminal complaint.
Merchant, 46, is charged with murder for hire.

This is speculation—but if President Trump had been killed the Deep State had a plan in place ready to blame Iran.
That would keep our side calm since we would then have a common enemy.

Honestly long before the attempt on Trumps life I decided if ANYTHING happened to him it’s DeepState. Period. THEY are the ones who most want him dead.

I think they had contingency plans in place—both domestic and foreign patsies involved.
Then they could decide at the last minute whatever narrative suited their purposes at the time.
The laughably weak security (stand down orders) gives them an open field to run in....
Since the assassination failed their primary focus at this point:
—Destroying evidence as fast as possible
—Sharing as little information to Congress and the mass media as possible
—Creating a narrative of Secret Service incompetence without providing individual accountability
—Trying to calm the waters by keeping the story out of the headlines
—Hoping most people forget the story—bury it in other “news”
On deck:
—Internet operations to muddy the waters with kooky conspiracy theories
—Internet operations to debunk legitimate researcher leads
The goal here is to bury this deep with the claim that anyone who suspects foul play is a “crazy conspiracy theorist”. This will be a mass media talking point.
Their method of operation is totally predictable.
