Hot August Nights announced Sunday it has revoked registrations for people shown in a Friday confrontation in a Virginia City viral video.
The Storey County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday the incident is also being investigated. In it, TikTok user unclerickd1 protests what he described as comments by at least one person in Virginia City that there was a “hanging tree” for people like him.
The sheriff’s office said it does not “condone or support racism, inequality, or hate speech.”
Hot August Nights said those in the video have been identified.
“We want to clarify that there were no Hot August Nights representatives, volunteers, or staff present in the video or involved in the situation,” HAN said in a statement. “The individuals wearing Hot August Nights badges are event participants.”
But HAN warned it may not end there.
“Following the event, Hot August Nights will further evaluate the Virginia City venue,” the group said. “We are committed to ensuring integrity and safety at all our events and will take action to remove individuals who diminish or harm others.”
In a follow-up TikTok video, unlrickyd1 thanked the public for their online support. He said he was only circulating a petition in Virginia City.

4. Declaring he was the only black person there? I was there most of the day Saturday and there was a mix from all walks of life.
5. VC is definitely Trump country and knowing a lot of folks there leads me to sat this is an extemely rare occurence. Might even be some race baiting going on.
6. If HAN decides to 'further evaluate the venue' it could cost the town a lot of revenue.
7. Are there fidiots there? They're everywhere.
8. Is there more to the story? We may never know.
The Cartwrights . . . it’s always the Cartwrights!

Went to a Hot August Nights event on Reno once. Hot for sure.
And the cars were nice too.
I stayed a night in a Virginia City hotel without air conditioning and it was SOOOO hot.
