Keir Starmer told to bring in 'Covid-style' measures to stop rioters

A Government advisor has called for Sir Keir Starmer to impose "Covid-style" measures to take back control of the streets of Britain as far-right riots continue.

Baron Walney, John Woodcock, told Times Radio: "I think the government and new ministers will understand the British public will back them in whatever measures they feel is necessary to get this situation under control.

"Hopefully we can see this petering out now over the next few days and the extra effort which is being put on forces being able to have effect.

"But if that isn't the case, I think the British public will back further action from ministers in this emergency to get things under control.

"Back in Covid, they were prepared to back measures that were needed in that situation and I think they would take a similar approach to keeping rioters off the streets now given the scale of damage that has been done to communities."

The statement comes as riots cause chaos in towns and cities across the UK.

The violence has intensified after the Southport stabbing on Monday, where suspect Axel Rudakubana is accused of killing three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.

Misinformation online claimed the suspect in the case had links to Islam. Rudakubana was born in Cardiff. His parents are Christians and heavily involved in their local church.

Since the tragedy in Southport, mosques across the UK have been targeted by far-right groups.

Tommy Robinson, former leader of the English Defence League, has shared the locations of "protests" online and urged his followers to take to the streets this weekend.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer put the police on an emergency footing on Friday.

“The violence has intensified after the Southport stabbing …”

So there was violence BEFORE the stabbing…?

"Hopefully we can see this petering out now over the next few days"

Even if it does it doesn't solve the underlying problems and they will continue to fester. It's just a temporary truce.

Ordinary British citizens turn “Far Right” overnight. Not through political affiliation but simply by reaching a breaking point brought on by the rising crime fueled by the crisis of unchecked illegal immigration. Such awareness of the consequences of such illegal immigration does not suit “Our Benevolent Betters” at all.

Or does it. Simply put one future goal of those movers and shakers of world events is the loss of national sovereignty and the decline of the nation state. A big part of that is destabilizing governments. Open rebellions and the draconian anti freedom orders triggered by them certainly bring about a state of perpetual crisis.

You can be sure somewhere a solution is being discussed. Most likely it involves saving Britain from itself. The way to avoid this is for those ordinary British citizens to push harder against anti-freedom edicts. And those who support them.

Normally, you have a bunch of grievances that get ignored, the true “will of the people,” and what is a basic human desire for some freedom and self determinism.

It’s normally a bunch of issues over a longer time which build up the firewood to make a really big fire.

Then comes the spark, some event which in all reality by itself isn’t even that big of a deal (sorry to say it that way, but it’s true), but with the backdrop of all these other grievances becomes the spark which sets off a fire.

The last thing you want to do now if you’re the PM is to be heavy handed and go after people who in reality have broad support across much of society and already feel like they are getting shat upon. That is pouring gasoline on that fire.

Rishi Sunak is the luckiest man in the world. If I were him, I'll move to California. The UK is a mess. He's rich so he can live the good life in the Bay Area. He was the PM only a month ago.

Even if they stomp this fire out with a big law enforcement foot, they are only kicking the can down the road.

The real solution is to address the underlying problems which caused this, and I have not heard one word about that.

Instead, it’s hold the course, deny there is a problem, blame others...
