A Government advisor has called for Sir Keir Starmer to impose "Covid-style" measures to take back control of the streets of Britain as far-right riots continue.
Baron Walney, John Woodcock, told Times Radio: "I think the government and new ministers will understand the British public will back them in whatever measures they feel is necessary to get this situation under control.
"Hopefully we can see this petering out now over the next few days and the extra effort which is being put on forces being able to have effect.
"But if that isn't the case, I think the British public will back further action from ministers in this emergency to get things under control.
"Back in Covid, they were prepared to back measures that were needed in that situation and I think they would take a similar approach to keeping rioters off the streets now given the scale of damage that has been done to communities."
The statement comes as riots cause chaos in towns and cities across the UK.
The violence has intensified after the Southport stabbing on Monday, where suspect Axel Rudakubana is accused of killing three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.
Misinformation online claimed the suspect in the case had links to Islam. Rudakubana was born in Cardiff. His parents are Christians and heavily involved in their local church.
Since the tragedy in Southport, mosques across the UK have been targeted by far-right groups.
Tommy Robinson, former leader of the English Defence League, has shared the locations of "protests" online and urged his followers to take to the streets this weekend.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer put the police on an emergency footing on Friday.

Then a Media could say the rioters shot themselves... This could get bad fast. The hope is that Media and police will put down the revolt and things will go back to normal and a 100,000 more boat people can be brought into England.

I don’t know if it’s true now, but at one time in the recent past the British army had more generals than main battle tanks. So if all else fails, Starmer might be able to send out squads of generals to suppress the protests.

I suppose a FReeper on the ground in the UK would know more. But I’m guessing that if the protests get really ugly, the response will be really ugly. (Would a 2024 Tommy obey orders to shoot into a crowd? Man, I hope not.)
And I would not discount government provocateurs being in the crowd. Their sole purpose would be to make the protesters look bad.

This article is spin. The killer was Rwandan. His parents are invaders. If he was born in the UK, it shows that second generation invaders do not assimilate.
The Muslim Horde is rioting and attacking native Brits with hammers, axes and machetes. The police are siding with the Muslims.
In Northern Ireland, the Catholics and Protestants are putting aside their long history of conflict, and they are now side-by-side joining together to protest the invaders.

The Express article did not mention the Rwanda connection. Maybe they do not wish to give an impression of foreign origin influence. Still, the attacker may very well be a convert.
