Sanctuary cities exporting migrants to red states would face payback under new bill

EXCLUSIVE — Nonsanctuary cities and states could retaliate against sanctuary cities that have shipped out migrants from their streets to Republican-run jurisdictions under a new proposal.

Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT) will debut legislation this week to cut off hundreds of millions of dollars in Federal Emergency Management Agency funding to cities that, overwhelmed with illegal immigrants who have been released into the country from the southern border, have opted to use federal grant money to pay for bus, train, and plane tickets to move migrants to other towns....

Denver, which received nearly $13 million from the Biden administration to help respond to migrants arriving on its streets in 2023 and 2024, sent some migrants to Salt Lake City without notice. Salt Lake City and Utah haven't received additional federal money....

This congressman’s an idiot. (Yes I know that’s redundant.)

We don’t need laws about how and how not to ship them around to each other in the US, and how Uncle Sugar should pay for them when they are shipped from city to city.

We need laws to force them the hell back to their home country, ASAP and at the lowest cost possible.

sphinx nailed it.
Cut off the funds, stop the EBT cards, shut down the freebies, eliminate the food stamps. They will go away.
We have NO obligation to feed, house, clothe and care for these people.
Finish the damn wall (now that SloJo and the Ho have sold off the materials for pennies on the dollar), and close it down. We have acceptable ports of entry.
Use the military, if necessary.
And, no new Path to Citizenship! They are illegals!

Liberals (a usual) have turned a political issue into an industry.

In this case ... ‘illegal immigration’. I guess the ‘civil rights’ issue is not generating enough grift

Quotes from the Refugee Convention:

Article 23 - Public relief

The Contracting States shall accord to refugees lawfully staying in their territory the same treatment with respect to public relief and assistance as is accorded to their nationals.

Article 17 - Wage-earning employment
....
2. In any case, restrictive measures imposed on aliens or the employment of aliens for the protection of the national labour market shall not be applied to a refugee...who fulfils one of the following conditions:
(a) He has completed three years’ residence in the country;
....
(c) He has one or more children possessing the nationality of the country of residence.

Article 34 - Naturalization [and getting the right to vote (and buy AR-15s)]

The Contracting States shall as far as possible facilitate the assimilation and naturalization of refugees. They shall in particular make every effort to expedite naturalization proceedings and to reduce as far as possible the charges and costs of such proceedings.

Article 44 - Denunciation [getting out from under the Refugee Convention]
1. Any Contracting State may denounce this Convention at any time by a notification addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
2. Such denunciation shall take effect for the Contracting State concerned one year from the date upon which it is received by the Secretary-General of the United Nations....

NOTE: I do not trust any politician who has not called for invoking Article 44 to get the US out from under the Refugee Convention.

And my distrust extends to Trump and all Republican elected officeholders.

The Refugee Convention must be removed from the Democratic Party toolbox by invoking Article 44.

“One of the things I see a lot in South Florida are people that have been in this country, maybe they came from Cuba 45 years ago, they’ve worked here their entire lives, they’re retired, they get $800, $900, $1,000 a month from Social Security, and then they run into somebody who just got here from Cuba three months ago, who’s 29 years old, doesn’t work, and is given $1,500 a month in benefits by our government because they’re a refugee. That refugee, a year later, is traveling back to Cuba 15 times.

“So, you’re a refugee fleeing oppression from a place that you now go back and visit 15 times the following year? In the meantime, we’re giving you Medicaid, food stamps, health care for your children, and cash payments from the refugee fund. Imagine if you’ve been working here for 40 years, and your Social Security check is smaller than the benefits going to a 28-year-old, able-bodied person who just got here. That’s real. That happens. That’s happening every day. That makes no sense.”

Cut off the funds, stop the EBT cards, shut down the freebies, eliminate the food stamps. remove them from government schools, revoke their driver licenses, arrest them when they seek medical care ...

Eliminate all the things that make them WANT TO COME HERE.
