In short:
- Regions across New South Wales and Queensland are shivering through a prolonged cold snap.
- Many inland areas recorded sub-zero temperatures this morning.
- What's next? The cold snap will continue tomorrow, with the chance some records will be broken.
Getting out of bed is just that bit tougher across parts of New South Wales and Queensland this morning, where residents are waking up to sub-zero temperatures.
At 6:30am the coldest part of NSW was the Goulburn Airport in the Southern Tablelands, where the temperature reached -5.7 degrees Celsius.
On the south-west slopes, the temperature at Young was -4.7C, while further west at Temora it was -4.8C.
Temora's record low is -6.4C.
It was a similar story north of the border, where the Wellcamp Airport at Toowoomba recorded a low of -5.7C at 6:28am.
Other cold spots in the Darling Downs-Granite Belt area included Oakey (-5.4C), Warwick (-4.5C) and Dalby (-4.4C).
Soldiers were also feeling the chill with the army barracks at Kapooka, on the outskirts of Wagga Wagga, recording a temperature of -4.4C.

BOM forecasts very warm winter for Australia, with the jury out on rainfall (May 29, 2024)
no kidding its winter in down under
No Carbon to burn for you, lefties.
Freeze and die to save da Erf.
Wow...winter in the Southern Hemisphere and it’s cold. What next? High temperatures in Death Valley in summer?
Darn!! Global Warming!!
Remember “The Man from Snowy River.”
Unfortunately, Australia abandoned the system provided by Lord Fahrenheit and bought in with the French Rationalists.
In the context of Metric, sub-zero just means water will freeze, not you. About 23 degrees. Cold, but not really a big deal.
Let me know when they get to -40.
Zero Celsius, meaning “below 32”.
Wow that’s tough.
Un-possible. I was told the erf has a fever.
Wow! A record low of 20 F!
Oh the humanity!

I think graveyards are pretty good at short term carbon release reduction and carbon sequestration.
Just think how effing cold it would be without global warming!/s
I need to put out a cup of my first run of brine on a nice 0 F morning to see if it beats the freeze or not. A mid day, fully hydrated sample, certainly would.
For Australia it is. They don’t have much in the way of heating in their homes. They better put their woolies on.
“a prolonged cold snap”
if it’s prolonged, it’s not a snap.
no FakeMSM is more global warming alarmist than taxpayer-funded ABC Australia.
52 this morning in Fairbanks. Current 57. Chilly!
