Harris’s words could harm hostage deal talks, senior Israeli official says
The Jerusalem Post ^ | July 26, 2024 | By TOVAH LAZAROFF

Vice President Kamala Harris may have made it more difficult to close a hostage deal, a startled senior Israeli official said after hearing the remarks she issued to the press late Thursday afternoon.

“We hope that it won’t make it harder to achieve a hostage deal because it gives the appearance of day light between Israel and the United States,” the official said.

Harris surprised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and those close to him by issuing her statement.

At issue for Netanyahu and his team was Harris’s statement about how Israel would completely withdraw from Gaza at the end of phase two of the deal.

The issue of a permanent ceasefire had been one of the sticking points of the agreement, with Hamas initially insisting that Israel must first pledge to a permanent ceasefire before it would free any hostages.

Harris, however, in her statement made it appear as if the deal would definitely include a complete IDF withdrawal from Gaza in phase 2, a step that has not been agreed upon. In a de-facto way, she gave Hamas a pledge of a permanent ceasefire before the deal got underway.

Israeli officials were also frustrated by Harris’s characterization of the food insecurity in Gaza, explaining that Netanyahu had also emphasized to Harris how many steps Israel was taking to provide humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza.

None of the Hamas fighters Israel has captured in Gaza has shown signs of starvation, an official noted.

“something is seriously wrong when you see people marching through the streets of Washington carrying Hamas banners, literal Hamas banners, carrying the Hamas flag down the streets of Washington, D.C. When you see people spray-painting on fountains in Washington that Hamas is coming; when you see them displaying signs calling for the death of Jews; when you see them burning American flags – it’s despicable. It’s hateful.”

“Biden’s horrible Iran deal will lead to more hostage taking”

“Published September 14, 2023 6:00am EDT”

“Biden agreed to transfer five prisoners and $6 billion to Iran in exchange for the ayatollahs releasing five American hostages — in effect, placing a $1.2-billion bounty on the head of every American hostage. This is a nearly 200% increase per hostage from the $1.7 billion Barrack Obama paid for four hostages in 2015. When Democrats are in office, it pays to have American hostages.”

She was condemning the “violence and starvation” that the palis are reciev8ng, but n3ver once mentioned that hamas is USING HUMAN SHEILDS after they provoked israel into war!

Hamas is committing war crimes, but no word of condemnation by Harris at all!

The left has prolonged the war and increased the suffering by providing incentive to Hamas. Their hope was that Netanyahu would fold under the pressure. They should have read his book.

At issue for Netanyahu and his team was Harris’s statement about how Israel would completely withdraw from Gaza at the end of phase two of the deal.

As I listened to her yesterday, I was so astonished to hear that she suggested a unilateral Israeli withdrawal that I thought I must have misheard her. I DID hear it correctly.

When the whole question is what to do with the power vacuum left by the defeat of Hamas, Israeli withdrawal simply returns the situation to what it was before the original Hamas attack.

Astonishing that she would suggest something like this after meeting with Bibi.

Completely driven by her desire to be elected. Completely political. She is a dangerous snake.

Yes, Kamala’s first and quite possibly only opportunity to show that she has the maturity, wisdom and gravitas to engage with foreign leaders, with the whole world watching, and she looked petulant, amateurish, naive and ideological.

Presenting a calm, gracious and welcoming demeanor to an invited dignitary are some of the essential attributes of high level diplomacy, a vital necessity for any American president.
Kamala failed, and everybody noticed, especially Israelis, Jewish Americans and
the international press.
Dissing one of America’s oldest allies in the Mid East, after the powerful and moving speech he presented to a joint session of Congress, for the sake of pandering to anti American radicals illustrates, at least for me, that Kamala is nowhere near ready for prime time.

Perhaps it was all worth the childish display, though.
This morning she got the all-important and elusive endorsement of the sainted Obama.
Now the Israelis know that if she’s installed in the White House like Biden, they will be on their own in any future conflict.
The consequences of such a circumstance might mean that they will have to go nuclear to save themselves from Iranian aggression.

How tragic, that the world might be faced with such horrors because an empty-headed but willful ideologue is handed the keys to the kingdom for partisan point scoring.
