Newsweek is facing social media backlash after downplaying the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump by suggesting he was only hit with part of a bullet instead of an intact bullet.
The Newsweek article is titled “Donald Trump Might Not Have Been Shot After All.”
Newsweek attempts to justify this title by pointing to testimony from FBI Director Christopher Wray, wherein Wray said, “…With respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear.”

NoozWeak!
Not “a part of a bullet hit him”.
But “a bullet hit part of him”.
Did the bullet disintegrate mid-air, and a teensy little shard touch him?
The FIB of course would like to downplay what happened to President Trump, since they realized he was getting a boost from it electorally. The claim of shrapnel makes no sense as there was nothing shattered around him, and the visible path of the bullet across his ear came directly from where the shooter was in a straight line. And of course the New York Times photographer captured a picture of the bullet whizzing past Trump’s ear. Wray was just attempting to give the “ear truthers” some encouragement.
With respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear.”
The New York Times photographer, Doug Mills, took several pictures of Trump while the shooting was ongoing, including getting a picture of a bullet in flight. But he also got a picture of blood on Trump’s fingers before he ever fell to the ground and before the Secret Service ever reached him. And how in the world would the Secret Service take a bit of his ear off unless they hacked at him with a knife?
The “rough handling” and the “shrapnel” claims make no sense once one looks at all the evidence. They are there solely to minimize the extreme risk of death President Trump experienced that day.
You have to be shot to get a Purple Heart?
It’s a wonder Christopher Wray didn’t say he couldn’t talk about it because it’s still under investigation?.
I haven’t seen the photo you refer to and can’t find it searching Doug Mills photos etc. Can you post the photo here, or a link. Thanks!
Yes something has changed.
Thanks for the information and clarification.
He is indeed prescient. :)
Oh thank you! I hadn’t noticed the blood but now I see it. I’m still confused about the bullet- so the one in the photo isn’t the one that hit him? Because wouldn’t it have strayed off a straight path if it hit his ear?

Are you kidding me?
A .223 caliber 60 grain bullet traveling 2500 feet per second wouldn’t even notice an ear.
Perhaps the editors of Newsweak should test their theory and line up against a wall and be shot with “part” of a bullet each.
