"except she’s not black.." Her Jamaican father is a decedent to a Scots-Irish plantation owner who married (?) a black slave. From that union came Kamila's paternal grandmother Miss Chrishy (née Christiana Brown) that married Joseph Harris (her grandfather) and were parents of her father, Donald.
Kamala Harris' mother is Shyamala Gopalan. She was an Indian biologist and civil rights activist from Chennai, India.
It's interesting that one can't find photos of Kamala's grandfather, Joseph Harris.
