The “unprecedented” nature of President Biden handing Vice President Kamala Harris the keys to his campaign war chest may prove “complicated” and spark legal challenges, the head of the Federal Election Commission warned Monday.
“I think it’s really complicated, is the short answer,” Federal Election Commission Chairman Sean Cooksey – an appointee of former President Donald Trump – told NPR when asked about the vice president’s ability to access the Biden campaign’s substantial assets.
“I mean, we take a step back to consider the situation – this is really unprecedented in terms of modern political history, and certainly in terms of campaign finance law,” he added. “We have a presidential nominee or a presumptive nominee dropping out just weeks before his party convention.”

Cooksey, one of six commissioners at the FEC, suggested that surrendering that money to Harris is not as simple and straightforward as some have suggested.
“What [Biden’s] attempting to do is to give his entire committee, the cash and all the assets, over to another person,” Cooksey explained.
“I think it’s gonna have to go through a process, through the FEC,” he added. “I expect, there’s probably going to be challenges to that at the agency, and probably in the courts as well.”
Cooksey acknowledged that some campaign finance lawyers have reached the conclusion that Harris has a legitimate claim to the Biden campaign funds, but he noted that other experts haven’t.
“I think other election law experts have actually reached the opposite conclusion,” he said.
“And so I think everyone would agree, though, that this is completely unprecedented, and it raises a lot of novel questions,” Cooksey argued.

So I wonder if all the money Kamala brings in as she is the heir apparent...goes to the same stash that was Joe’s or did she setup a new stash for her? If she set up a new stash, it would appear she agrees she doesn’t have access to Joe’s stash of campaign cash. And if it is going to Joe’s stash...is it even hers?

Isn’t it a “shared” corp type thing as they’re both on the ticket? If Kamala didn’t run then, yeah, the new contender shouldn’t get the funds but the VP on the ticket shouldn’t be a problem?

Someone posted the screenshots of some FEC filing and they had some various that were basically Kamala for president committee or whatever they called it that were apparently newly established. I would say that would be her money, but just because you change the name from Biden to Kamala on his committee, to me, doesn’t make it hers
Definitely not the old money. But even changing the name makes it worse. So they are saying they could plug me in for President and just put my name on their organization and get all the past cash.
At a minimum it is consumer fraud—classic bait and switch.
You paid for product A and you got switched to product B without your consent—with no offer to return your money.
Same company, even with a name changem i would assume this is the same entity.
They really don’t need it. The democrats will raise 200,000,000 by the time of the convention.

During Hussein’s first campaign, there was some news about ‘foreign donations.’ Hussein stated, without blinking at all, that he would use any and all $$$ during the campaign. AFTER the campaign, if any $$$ was found to be inappropriate, he would return it.
Once again, there are no rules, regulations or laws that apply to the DemocRATS or DemoKKKrats. Rules and laws are for ‘others.’
Without a conscience or a soul, anything is possible.
Moral of the story: Whenever there is a large pile of cash it will be surrounded by sharks, I mean laywers.
Could the money be the funds that were withheld by the donors?
But if the funds were ‘addressed’ to the hidenbiden campaign, how could cackles get the money?
They're not on the ticket, never were, and now will never be. "Presumed ticket."
It'll be challenged, but unlikely to be resolved by courts before the cash is spent. Potential class action suit.
