Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle told lawmakers her agency has no radio recordings from the day of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, earlier this month.
On Monday, Cheatle was asked about the security agency’s records-keeping practices by Rep. Russell Fry, R-S.C.
“Does the Secret Service routinely record communications between and amongst detail?” Fry said.
“Radio communications?” Cheatle clarified.
“Any communication,” Fry said.
“Email communications are captured as well as text messages. And then depending on the detail, radio communications are recorded,” Cheatle said.
“Does the Secret Service have recorded communications from the July 13th event?” Fry asked.
“We do not have radio communications from that day,” Cheatle said.

“The reason for this is because they are potential evidence in future proceeding either civil or criminal.”
That makes a lot of sense.
I know any LEO gets jumpy at potential lawsuits whether civilians or even employees.
>> Cheatle would have already resigned and facing criminal charges.
That would be just fine, but MAYORKAS is the one I want to see hanging from piano wire on a lamppost.
A few moments after (hopefully) Trump wins on election night, there will be a brief dimming of lights across Washington, DC. It will come from all of the document shredders that were suddenly switched on across multiple Federal agencies.
That laptop didn’t belong to Hunter; it is Ruzzian disinformation.
Joe Biden got 81 million votes in 2020 and won the election fair and square.
Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd.
Surprise, surprise, surprise! 🙄
The dispatchers for the cops record everything on their end. Maybe she can stop by and borrow a cup of sugar and her integrity.
I'm trying to imagine the SS working in conjunction with LE locals and all of them not being able to communicate with each other. So I guess if the locals see a person with a gun they're unable to tell the SS to remove the president off the stage. I can't wrap my head around that. Communication is everything, totally critical in events like this.
Local should have recordings of their traffic along with notes of incidents..CAD computer aided dispatch
Or maybe start a collection for the Secret Service and get those those higher end Mattel or Whammo 2-way units. Range of 4 miles.
They’ve probably been destroyed.
“ The most threatened president in U.S. history, right? And we’re told the Secret Service radios are not on the same frequency as the local police who we are told are working in conjunction with the Secret Service. “
I wouldn’t doubt that part. Whenever we ended up on a multi jurisdictional incident, we had to send people to a command post so that the different divisions could communicate with one another. Sometimes it ended up being more of a game of Telephone than anything.
We had no way to program in another’s frequency even if we knew it.
Right. Until the cell phones are down or you're in a venue with zero or spotty coverage.
Even cheap, off the shelf VHF/UHF radios are easily programable.
By the way, incidents or events that would require multi jurisdictional agencies to be involved, should never be an excuse for not being able to communicate with each other. With the technology we have today, that’s ridicules.
This has to be the first time the US government WASN’T recording everything around Trump...

Treason requires some connection to a foreign power we whom we are at war.
Unless they were ordered off, it sounds like discipline was so lax that the team had no respect for whoever was in charge. Or, since the team was hastily assembled from USSS and DHS and who knows what other agencies, there were a lot of entitled people there who were lacking in even the ordinary respect for authority in general, the kind you ordinarily give to rank until it proves itself dangerously contemptible.
Good point!
