I’m no Fauci fan, but the headline is wrong. Fauci didn’t dismiss Trump’s wound. He merely said it didn’t appear to be more serious than an ear graze, which thankfully, appears to be true. But though Trump’s injury appears to be minor, that doesn’t take away from the seriousness of the shooting.

The discussion Fauci was having on CNN was weather or not Trump’s injury may be more serious than just a minor flesh wound (i.e. the concussive effects might cause complications such as a brain bleed). From the article:

‘I think he’s in the clear... as far as I can see,’ Fauci said - although he acknowledged that it’s dangerous to make diagnoses from a distance

However, based on Trump’s physicians’ reports and the way in which the former president is acting now, Fauci says it seems to have been a superficial wound to the ear and nothing more.

While Fauci believes Trump’s wound is harmless... others in the medical field have warned that long-term health effects of the gunshot could be detrimental to the former president.

CNN’s chief medical correspondent Doctor Sanjay Gupta asked for a ‘public assessment’ of the former president in an op-ed for CNN on Friday.

He added: ‘...gunshot blasts near the head can cause injuries that aren’t immediately noticeable, such as bleeding in or on the brain, damage to the inner ear, or even psychological trauma.’

The doctor argued that the public has ‘very little insight’ into Trump’s condition after he sustained the injury on Saturday.

Exactly! This Dr. Gupta is the bad guy here, not Fauci.

I still remember when John Hinckley shot Ronald Reagan, they acted as if it was not serious but his wound was very near his heart.

Fauci needs to disappear from public life. His criminal acts will never be punished, but they should be.

Gupta apparently cannot tell the difference between a gunshot blast felt when you are near where the lead and gas leaves the barrel vs being out in the open when a bullet whizzing by.

Didn’t President Trump say that a portion of his ear was destroyed (gone forever)? Then it was not a “graze”.

graze /grāz/ intransitive verb

To touch lightly in passing; brush.

To scrape or scratch slightly; abrade.

To scrape or touch something lightly in passing.

“ gunshot blasts near the head”

True. But the “blast”’was 137 yards away.

I read the excerpt and saw nothing amiss. Thanks for reading the article and making sensible comments.

He could get a blood clot that dislodges and travels to his brain and he could end up like Biden.

I’m no expert on gunshot injuries. Psychological trauma I can see, but bleeding on the brain or damage to the inner ear? If the muzzle of the rifle was next to his ear I could see it.

Bottom line is this. If Trump wanted to get a sympathy vote out of the assassination attempt, he would not have gotten up and pumped his fists nor would he have asked for his shoes.

He did that fist pump and the fight fight fight to let people know he was alive, okay, and that we are going to keep fighting.

The difference in that crowd after he did that was instantaneous.

I agree 100% - as I told #48 post - it seems we are a small minority...The headline SET PEOPLE off....and they said, “I don’t need to read the article. I have already formed an opinion based on seeing Fauci’s name associated with it.”

‘Tis but a scratch.’ Perhaps a bit more, but for most people the distance between the surface of their ear and their brain is a fraction of an inch. Suffering a scratch or perhaps a bit more to your ear from a bullet moving at 2000 ft./sec. is gong to concentrate your mind, cause you to have deep serious thoughts.

ALLOW ANY OF US TO ADMINISTER AN ‘EAR GRAZE” to FAUCI—

AND LETS SEE WHAT KIND OF BANDAGE HE WANTS.

Why don’t you take off a quarter of your ear in such a violent way and report back when that is done? We will wait.

I agree with your assessment. The headline is crafted to get eyeballs reading based on the pre-existing public hatred of Fauci.
