Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson on Tuesday doubled down on his 2015 comment that the “donor class” is “going to have to go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump,” despite the Saturday assassination attempt on the former president.
Wilson made the comment in October 2015 in the context of arguing that Republican donors needed to destroy Trump’s campaign and boost a stronger candidate to defeat Hillary Clinton, according to a transcript of MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes.” Wilson said Tuesday on “Rick Wilson’s The Enemies List” that the phrase was just a “metaphor” and told people not to back down from confronting Trump because the assassination attempt does not make him a noble person

I used to joke that I never metaphor I didn't like, but in this case the metaphor needs to be called out for the [expletive expletive expletive expletive expletive] that it is, and the [expletive expletive expletive expletive expletive] that Wilson is. Repent, man, or end up where you don't wanna be.

Is Wilson in the cross-hairs now?
Naming his group “The Lincoln Project” takes on a whole new meaning in light of the assassination attempt.
It’s not out of the realm of possibilities that if it was an orchestrated plot his group may have had a hand in it.
Even if this was just a metaphor, isn’t the patriotic thing to say not that Trump needs to be taken out (in whatever way) but that the electorate needs to be convinced to support someone better?
Somewhere in all this, nobody seems to be saying that the voters should have the last say so let’s make sure that they are informed and make a good decision.
And they all claim that it is Trump - the only one actually making a real case to real voters - who is undermining “democracy”.
