For a lot of cops, the only real goal each day is to live to go home at the end. Which is understandable.
Still some of us expect Serving and Protecting to also be priorities. But these don’t always make the list.
‘Serving and Protecting’ is just marketing bushwah. They’re not legally required to do either or liable for failure to act. But they do provide muscle to the government/mafia to keep the proles in line.
And to write tickets so that the ruling class can remind the peasants who is in charge.
