.223 rounds are effective but not that effective. It is illegal to hunt deer in many states with a .223 because it often wounds but does not kill.

But what if it was a 556. That’s more than twice as big. If it was a 9 it would have blown his lungs out.
Sorry, I could resist rehearsing my The View comments.

That would not apply here. Headshot at 130 yards, when the bullet is still going at close to 3,000 fps - 1/2” in the wrong direction and we’d be watching Trump’s funeral.
The 55 grain rounds used in Vietnam in the 1/12 twist barrels were more effective because they were barely stabilized and tumbled through flesh. The current 62 AP was lamented in Somalia because it just punched holes in the enemy and did not kill effectively. (source: "Ammo Oracle)

A head shot with a .223 at that range would be fatal.
What is with you? One inch to Trump’s left and he’s dead and you are saying that caliber is “not that effective”. Get outta here
Obviously it is a very effective round when placed on target since one of the rounds that missed Trump killed another man.
Legal for deer in MN. & a lot of deer are taken with them.
