Former US Army sniper on Trump assassination attempt: 'One of the easiest shots' (video and transcript from Fox News Jesse Watters' show)
foxnews.com ^ | Jesse Watters

Posted on 07/15/2024 5:17:28 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Transcript from video (formatted by ChatGPT):

Darkness Because They Will Stop at Nothing

Jesse Watters: Let's bring in Florida Congressman and former U.S. Army sniper, Corey Mills. What kind of shot was this from 130 yards, Corey?

Corey Mills: Look, at the end of the day, this is a shot your basic training boot camp soldier is required to make within their nine weeks of training. This is one of the easiest shots; they train all the way up to 300 or 500 yards. The resident counter-sniper is not with the United States Army, but actually with the State Department, and was doing this exact thing: trying to look at going out with an advance team, establishing what the perimeter is.

As a sniper, you would set up, put together range sketches or your range fan cards, and identify the areas of threat you'd be able to mitigate. There's multiple targets; you understand your elevation and wind would not be messed with at 160 yards. You could literally glance quickly and know from reference points, whether it be a building, a lone tree, a parking lot, or maybe a road. The bottom line is massive negligence to the point of me speculating what was intentional and what was not.

Jesse Watters: Wow. You do a site survey, you're seeing this rooftop not that far away, why don't look like the counter-sniper team was a little surprised?

Corey Mills: I can only speculate and want to wait until the investigation comes out. They might have thought the local law enforcement's potential climbing up on the roof. He saw a dark object on the light roof.

Jesse Watters: You are saying maybe they misconstrued crooks for a friendly, for local law enforcement?

Corey Mills: Which is very possible. Don't speculate until the investigation is over. The bottom line is if you saw someone climbing onto a roof that you would not authorize clearance on, it has got a clear line of sight. This part is exactly adjacent to the shooting where the President was sitting. You're trying to make a pop shot; you've got people yelling, and there should've been columns. The minute that local law enforcement, who apparently had a rifle pointed at them, there should've been emergency frequency comms. A shout should've gone out: "There is a shooter on the roof!" Secret Service should've rushed the stage and taken the President off and then responded to the counter-sniper. The shot should not have gone off; that is a failure in itself.

You are supposed to be able to make sure the best security is when you go in, you are able to prevent an incident, not react to an incident. Even if you had left a law enforcement officer patrol car in that parking lot with the lights on, that could've been a deterrent. When you have nothing to enforce protection, you are encouraging disparate actions. Look, I am not sure who the individuals are on the end of the detail, Secret Service, but I can say under this Biden administration, the one thing I have seen is massive DEI hires. I can tell you when you primarily go after DEI, you end up with the IE.

Jesse Watters: You have these counter-snipers awaiting until eight rounds are fired, what accounts for that? After the first shot, you get return fire immediately.

Corey Mills: The minute a shot rang out, they should've been on scope. Your spotter should've already called the distance. If you did not look to your range card, you should immediately engage. There should've been no reason to wait. I talked to Eric Trump after the incident. Eric and I are both gun enthusiasts; we both shoot long distance. That right there is a pop shot. He did say, "I've gone out with the CS teams, and they are one of the best." He knows the actual service detail that is within. They are loyal individuals who actually do care about the President. I can say that was relayed to me.

The bottom line is this is a massive security breach. This is a huge failure, negligence at best. We have to figure out why something within 200 yards... think about this, at 200 yards, that means an average rifle that holds one minute of angle holds a 2-inch grouping if you shot it straight up the deck, meaning on a platform. You're talking 1.6 inches is what its grouping capabilities are. For the average head, which is, what, six by eight, shoulder to shoulder is 20 inches, waist to waist is 40 inches. President Trump is a very large man. This is a shot within five minutes. I could teach you to make nine out of 10 times. This is divine intervention. This is God having his protective hand, and wearing Ephesians 6, the armor of God over the President.

This right here, a millisecond or millimeter change, this is an attempted assassination. This is an assassination of a President. The devil is in Butler, Pennsylvania, but so was God.

Jesse Watters: I can say one more thing, Corey. Let's also remember King Henry II, who said, "Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?" and his knights went out and killed the Archbishop of Canterbury. They thought that was a direct order. What do you say when President Biden says it's time to put a target on Trump? That, in my opinion, is insightful rhetoric. That is the stuff they would've gone after for the J6 stuff. So why don't we have an investigation? There needs to be a full investigation on this, absolutely. It is not to be crickets like some of these other former incidents.

I was lucky enough to get to shoot a Barrett 50 cal last yet. It had an amazing and powerful scope, and was perfectly sighted.

It was less than 100 yards, inside a building. Without the scope I could never have even hit it.
With the scope I could have read it’s nametag.

The scope the SS guy has looks even better than the one I used.
And they couldn’t see him AIM HIS RIFLE TO SHOOT AT TRUMP?????

If you watch the video of the counter snipers that still has Trump in it at the bottom right, you can see the exact timing.

As soon as Trump reaches for his ear, the CS on the left immediately comes off his scope, sees the shooter and adjusts his tripod to the right to take a bead on the shooter. The video doesn’t stay on the CS team long enough to see which sniper took the kill shot.

I’m waiting for this investigation to be whitewashed like the Vegas shooter.

Who could possibly be scrubbing the shooter’s social media accounts now that he’s dead…….and why?

Most likely rushed his shots and still came very close. He knew he had been spotted by law enforcement because he pointed his rifle at the officer who climbed up to the roof and there were people on the ground yelling about him. He knew he didn’t have much time.

I can probably hit a man at that distance with my old Glock 9mm pistol.

I enjoy shooting at 2 liter bottles at about a 100 yards, I don’t have any practical use for that but I enjoy it, if some guy asks ‘why bother’ I can point out that at least it serves as suppressive fire practice.

The shooter was almost 90 degrees to Trump's right.

The shot was perfectly aimed at the right side of Trump's head.

What happened?

Watch the video.

The shooter fired at the same moment Trump sharply moved his head down, and to the right, to speak directly to the people in that area of the audience.

Trump's motion essentially put him face to face with the shooter. The shot skimmed by the right side of Trump's head.

Trump immediately dropped to the floor, which obviously put him out of view to the shooter.

Ten seconds later, the shooter was dead.

Probably not. the kid looks like he’s on the spectrum to me. Probably told him what to do and that they would protect him entirely afterwards.

Depends on your branch of service. Marine Corps rifle qualification used to start at 200 yards, 12” bullseye, five rounds from each of three positions: standing, kneeling, and sitting. Last phase was 10 yards prone, 500 yards, bullseye 20” x 40”. That was all with iron sights.

We got lucky that the perp screwed up the shot.

We have all heard of “buck fever” where a hunter misses an easy shot due to nerves. I suspect something similar happened here.

We got lucky that the guy was a putz who probably spent a lot more time playing video games than he had shooting a rifle. If he'd been remotely competent with a rifle Trump would be dead.

First failed attempt on a President was against Andrew Jackson. Both assassin’s pistols failed to fire. Subsequent tests showed them working perfectly. The shooter was an insane person.

Did shioter screw up, or did Trump move his head at last millisecond, to look at the immigration chart? I’ve heard the latter. Also, Trump had an apparent bullet home in his suit too.

My friend who was sergeant in an airborne division was trained on iron sights to 300 meters.

Not much googling, except for ballistic accuracy of "an AR-15 style" rifle, just Excel and high school math, and some small amount of experience, a long time ago. I know the resolution of the human eye from optics, and checked it on google.

I qualified my remarks by saying his results were consistent with what I would expect from someone with his training and experience. You are aware that he was removed from his high school rifle team, at least nominally for being a bad shot. I qualified as marksman in basic, meaning middle of the pack, but easily qualifying. I have not fired a rifle since. I do not think I could have pulled off a head shot at 130 yards (~120 meters) even right out of basic, even though I did hit a 400 meter target.

“In the camera shots which have since come out, the two counter snipes each have POLICE stenciled on the back of their vests.”

And below Police it says Secret Service.
