'Three black trucks with US government plates' are mysteriously spotted at Trump VP contender's home sparking rumors they have won the veepstakes

Three black trucks with United States government plates were spotted at the home of Ohio Senator and rumored vice presidential candidate JD Vance on Saturday.

Vance, a big favorite with Trump's MAGA base, saw the extra protection at his house following the assassination attempt on Trump that the former president miraculously survived, with Vance blaming Joe Biden for the rhetoric leading to it.

Some speculated on social media upon noticing the black trucks that they might be Secret Service agents, leading many to wonder if Vance had officially won the veepstakes.

Trump is expected to make the announcement at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee this week.

However, while it was left vague why the extra security had been requested, a report suggested it was not Secret Service and had nothing to do with whether Vance was going to be Trump's VP.

'A source familiar says it’s NOT Secret Service, not related to veepstakes and that the presence is strictly precautionary after yesterday,' NBC News reported.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine would only say that Ohio State Highway Patrol and ATF agents were sent to Vance's home, according to WLWT.

The request was approved at around 6:40pm local time Saturday afternoon, about 25 minutes after Trump was shot at.

'For safety reasons, the patrol does not discuss specific details related to security operations.' OSHP said in a statement.

It is unclear if the other rumored VP favorites have had security sent to their homes, or if the same has been bestowed on fellow Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown.

A spokesperson for DeWine, a Republican like Vance, would not say whether there was any specific threat against the Senator or the reasoning behind it at all.

Vance has yet to make any public comment on the security detail.

Yeah. If he chooses Vance, it’s gonna free up a lot of my time for the next few months ‘cause I won’t be paying attention — because I won’t care. It will show that the man has learned NOTHING.

More likely Biden sent FBI to arrest him.

And the management here at FR has asked repeatedly for no personal attacks.

No! Why pull Vance out of the Senate? DeWine cannot be trusted to appoint a Conservative to that seat. Then we face a tough and costly election in 2026 to protect that seat.

This makes zero sense.

I still think he’ll pick a woman for his running mate and it will be Elise Stefanik imo. She’s been a loyalist to Trump, more so than JD Vance ever has been.

BEFORE the failed assassination, a VP who would do what Pence would not (reportedly part of Trump’s litmus test for prospective VPs) was important since a big cheat looked like the Ds only chance and thus a rerun of fraud EV electors likely

Now, AFTER the failed assassination with DjT now a lock, a competent VP with no interest in a future Oval Office seems wise. Let Donald’s immediate lame duck status, and the competition for his job in ‘28 take place from outside the WH.

Not sure if such a person exits.

I think it is a BIG mistake to take ANY senator as VP. Because then Trump might lose control of Senate, where as right now it is guaranteed with WV going to us and the VP breaking the tie.

It is never guaranteed you will win, case in point BOTH senate seats from Georgia that we lost before

Either that, or they’re arresting him for some made up reason.

Probably such a person does not exist. But I don’t think Carson has stars in his eye when thinking about sitting behind Resolute. All the others CLAWING toward that.

Something about Vance I do not trust. It’s the babyface hiding behind the beard. He’s hiding something. A false persona?...

Bergum has too many IOU slips in political pockets.

Rubio is playing the middle right a little too much to the middle and only lately has veered more right.

Vivek? I don’t see him as a future President. But I sure would love to see him in a VP debate against Kamala (or whomever Kamala chooses to be her running mate).

Carson would make a great VP but does he really want to put up with the onslaught by the media at this stage of his life.

I think the best choice is never mentioned in any discussion. Rand Paul

I think the best options are not on that list that’s been thrown around. (But what do I know?)

~~~
This makes no sense is the exact phrase that went through my mind.
Ohio is not in play electorally for the presidential election. It’s firmly Trump. So why would you pick a guy that doesn’t win you any electoral votes and opens up a valuable senate seat?
Vance doesn’t even check any boxes to help gain ground with independents, women, or minorities.
So Vance went to Yale eh? Was a skull and bones guy too?
