This is a thorough and thoughtful discussion on the assassination attempt on Trump. The discussion is between two ex-Military one of whom is a trained and field hardened sniper.
The video is an hour, but the key takeaways are:
1) The snaps that are heard when Trump is hit are the sonic booms from the bullets passing by the mic and not the gun shots
2) The delay in the snipers' shooting the assassin could be attributed to three things:
o The time it takes to acquire target through a sniper scope which has a very small field of view
o Not knowing if the sniper was a friend or foe, i.e. could have been a local officer placed on the roof
o Delay in communicating information provided by crowd to the snipers via multiple lines of communication
They are not certain, but believe the assassin got off shots before being killed more from incompetence than a conspiracy. They also believe the key failures were associated with not securing the roof or identifying the assassin as he walked to the building and ascended to the roof.

Also there’s the angle of all the people who called out the shooter to the police, who did nothing.

In the meantime, when there’s a potential threat... WHY THE HELL was not Trump surrounded by SS personnel and the event paused until it could be determined.
Even if the whole “Who is on the roof?” question is legitimate? Why is the fact that Trump was not being screened on the stage not a major issue?
I mean the SS managed to visually shield Ms Cabbagefart McPantsuit from the public while she was being potato-sack tossed into the van back in the day. That wasn’t even life or death?!?!
I have a good friend who was an FBI field agent many years ago. He thinks it is incompetence, primarily lack of communication between the SS and the local police. He also doesn’t think the DEI trend has done the SS any good. Besides the three short ladies, he wasn’t too impressed with the stocky older guy who looked like they were running in circles trying to look busy.
Which is exactly even the Keystone Kops would have had someone securing that roof. That is an unforgivable lapse.

Yes, There needed to be more personnel, however … the responsibility falls on the those who were on duty. Not on who was not on duty.

Trump did not have his usual Secret Service security detail. For this particular event, they were replaced by the Secret Service office with agents many of whom were temp Homeland Security agents.

Bottom line is a failure by SS to secure the perimeter adequately for a potential long range sniper. They should have secured at least 1000 yards.

This is going to be the key in the entire investigation. Shooter would have told supervisor he has shooter in his sights and can he engage. The supervisors response will tell the entire story.
Occam’s razor says that ordinary run of the mill Mayorkas incompetence is the root cause.
It looked like a permanent ladder for maintenance that was attached to the building to me.
I saw a Local Person on video saying that the Ladder is permanently affixed to the Building.
I also saw the same thing in one of the Threads here on FR.
