Bravely spoken by a FREEPER hiding behind his screen name name! Say something useful that might counter my thoughts in a useful way or be quiet yourself!

good heavens, who mentioned jail time or assaulting the couple?

You can certainly say “I disagree” or “Here’s why you are wrong..” without assaulting anyone!

We can only win people to our side plus encourage those already on our side to not fear speaking up by doing so, calmly and logically. Leave it to the liberals to act irrationally, then everyone will see them for who they are.

Thank you for the effort you are putting in locally, that’s very important.

oh, I get it now, I was taking Trump’s “fight” to mean fight back, but not with violence.

You, being a man, went with the manly definition.

I just get frustrated when conservatives are proud of themselves for saying and doing nothing, letting the liberals in their presence win by default.

Sheep dogs must still have masters or and be disciplined or they go rogue! They must be mastered in ways that regular sheep can trust!

you put down a sheep dog whenever they harm the sheep.

I haven’t spoken to my youngest brother in four years.

He’s a rabid Trump hater.

Now I know how they felt in 1861.

You ain’t alone in your anger FRiend.

I used to be a liberal and they don’t know what fear is.

It’s high time they did. Make THEM nervous, make THEM have to keep looking over their shoulder.

They want a fight?

Then by God give it to them.

God isn’t done with him.

That is true. We are always in His hands.

All praise to God for saving Trump yesterday.

At least one innocent bystander is dead from the same shooting - did God protect President Trump and not the innocent bystander?

Short answer: Correct! God protected President Trump but not the innocent bystander.

Happy now?

Divine Providence can intercede in human affairs. It does not, however, mean that God is somehow "obligated" to intercede in all human affairs, or that God is somehow "at fault" for not instantly solving all world problems and averting all dangers which Man faces.

Crediting God for stopping “the unthinkable” comes across as missing the reality that the unthinkable DID happen to innocent bystanders.

Perhaps in your mind.

A presidential candidate, a former President, and most likely the next President of the United States is spared death by an assassin. Had the assassin been successful, it would have shaken our political system to the foundations.

It is not hyperbole to describe such an event as "unthinkable."

However, due to the Hand of Providence, it did not happen. Rather, it was averted.

I’d like to see him visit/help the family of the deceased, go to the funeral if possible, visit, call or help the wounded somehow.

Are there any other items on your "to-do list?"

I think it superfluous for any of us to list demands of President Trump. He has excellent sense and will undoubtedly do the right thing - regardless of your enumerated requirements.

You entirely missed the point of my rhetorical question.

I was not asking for theological lectures.

I was pointing out the profound insensitivity of publicly claiming that God spared one person from a tragedy that killed other innocent people.

Now that I have heard your views on the matter, I do not expect you to understand.

You certainly have that right.

I was pointing out the profound insensitivity of publicly claiming that God spared one person from a tragedy that killed other innocent people.

I have explained in a subsequent posting (#73) why I think that it would have been unthinkable for a major presidential candidate, former president, and putative next president to have been assassinated - since it would have possibly shaken our system to the core.

The death of a former fire chief, while regrettable, is not "unthinkable."

It would, of course, have been very insensitive for President Trump to explicitly state that the murder of an innocent former fire chief was geopolitically insignificant. President Trump did not do that. In fact, President Trump had very kind words for innocent victim.

So I don't know what you are going on about. President Trump did and said nothing that could be fairly characterized as "insensitive."

In a way I’m glad I wasn’t watching and found out while Freeping here and the first thing I read was Trump seemed to be ok. As I have an aversion to the MSM I stayed right here and did not click on the tv. I was Freeping as well when 9/11 happened. I made one post that morning which was that I was praying for America. Probably the best thing I’ve ever posted on FR.

I know President Trump is a very sensitive and caring person who I greatly admire - I’m certainly not singling him out for criticism.

My comment was directed at outspokenly religious people who seem to have a blind spot when it comes to talking about tragedy in terms of God’s providence.

As I said, I don’t expect you to understand.

My church has been praying that God would protect President Trump from assassins for over 6 months now.

Instead of wanting revenge, we need to observe this:

I want you to be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil.  The God of Peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.

The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. Romans 16:19-20

We need to follow the Spirit in peace, not violence. God will soon crush Satan under our feet.

When Trump went down, first thing I did was go on twitter, I thought MAYBE MAYBE it was firecrackers..didnt see anything..then I went here to the thread about the rally and that is when I knew what I saw was what I saw..Honestly Ive never seen someone shot before. Ive seen people shot on TV but its pretend, law and order, shows like that, never seen a person get shot for real before..I cant get that image out of my head and then I think if just for a split second Trump had kept his head towards the crowd we would have all witnessed his brains blown out..I just cant, I just cant even imagine
