A 22 long rifle was reported. Which, I think, indicates that the shooter was an amateur. An Antifa type sounds about right.

.22 can be very deadly. Like in this case, one innocent is dead and another innocent was seriously wounded.
I do not believe it was a .22 LR rimfire cartridge.
It was reported by media as being an AR type weapon.
Typical .223 Remington (5.56x45 NATO) are 22 caliber.
