CDC, once largely remote, balances return to office with a burnt-out workforce

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reining in full-time remote work for many of its employees.

With the Biden administration setting higher return-to-office targets, the CDC is now telling most teleworking employees to come into the office at least twice each two-week pay period.

The CDC is still carving out exceptions and allowing employees in IT and data science positions to work remotely.

Until recently, the CDC relied on remote work as a free, but effective, way to keep public health workers from looking for other jobs.

Abolish the CDC. Make something new without the Deep State in it.

Fire all their butts.

Stop promoting genocide and they’d probably feel less burned out.

The Swedish Public Health Agency.

I refer to get info from them. Nothing to do with politics in Sweden.

I'll create the HQ of the new public health agency in Chicago, Illinois.

It should be dependent on an endowment. So it won't get involved in politics.

Sorry, what does a CDC person do that makes the job hard?

They’re working indoors, they have government pay scale jobs, and they get to kill millions of people.

And they’re stressed because they have to show up 45 days per year?

More like worn out from working on chores around the house. In my experience it’s ruined many good employees. It made them selfish and lazy. We are a small consulting engineer company. Less than 30 people. We dialed back to 2 days working from home if you want. Didn’t help. Overall productivity and commitment are down. No 100% work ethic anymore. Despite the fact we pay very well, have a very, very generous bonus program and the best Healthcare program in the world. The rest of us work our assessment off while 50 just want to make it to the end of the workday.

"Works leaves me feeling burned out. I can only continue in this job if I don't have to work."

"Okay. You're fired."

The remotework sub on Reddit is educational. Many people saying they have to work remotely because they can’t afford child care. Ummm...how are you working while watching your kids? Now the scammers have shown up.

Chicago is corrupt and a terrible idea for the CDC.

You'll want to put the new version of the CDC in a blue state. Right now the CDC is in Atlanta. And we saw how they did.

It'll be an advantage for the state of Georgia to relocate the CDC from Atlanta to Chicago.

A remote workforce isn’t the problem if the job gets done. It is the immense amount of real estate and office space the Federal government owns or leases that is the real issue.

More like worn out from working on chores around the house.

A FReeper mentioned to me on another thread that it's a a blessing in disguise.

Federal bureaucrats are so lazy "working from home" so they leave us alone for most part as long as we're paying our taxes.
