Gabbard is best choice. A former Dem, aligned with Trump, will bring wayward Dems and independents, is a veteran, a person of color for those that care, and is a woman.
Do you want her as president? Trump is 78, and is also facing endless lawfare which won't go away just because he becomes president. There's a very good chance his VP might need to finish out his term - I don't want Gabbard deciding on the SC justices to replace Alito and Thomas when they decide to step down.

If Gabbard is the choice and if she were to become president, I am sure she'd continue MAGA and at least for the next two years she'll very likely have Republican house and senate.
If she waivers, she won't be candidate in 2028. Maybe not anyway as the party has a great pool of candidates likely on tap for 2028.

(I'll go out on a limb: Trump & Gabbard 2024 or Trump & Sanders 2024)
