The Texas Constitution directs the Lieutenant Governor to exercise the powers of the governor while the governor is out of state. The process worked and Lt Gov Dan Patrick (thoroughly qualified) was acting governor.

The left is growling in case there’s a chance Abbott is on the VP shortlist. They also are whimpering about holding Centerpoint Energy responsible for the delay in restoring power. Over half of the 2.4 million customers have had power restored.

There wasn’t just one or two lines down. There were hundreds down and possibly thousands of transformers blown. Start at the trunk and work out to the branches. There are 12,000 linemen working the problem.

exactly, and I'm sure Abbot alerted him he would be unavailable for the time period, unlike Biden's Defense secretary.

An addendum:

Thank God for natural gas appliances. Our house has a gas stove, gas water heater and a gas furnace. The portable gasoline powered generator supplied all of the household needs except the central AC. One 9000 btu mini split was available and running on occasion.

Those greenies with all electric everything had to leave home to survive.
