It is very clear that “it’s a State’s issue” is not enough for you. There is no other logical interpretation of your post. It follows that you want to restrict abortions by law to a stricter standard than Trump has proposed...exceptions for rape, incest, mother’s health. Otherwise your post makes no sense.

Only as a group ie citizens of a state, can we legislate morality. We are free to try and change the law of our respective states.
A national prohibition of abortions would not succeed. That is not the position of the majority in each state, nor would it eliminate abortions as proven by the realities in countries where all abortions are illegal.
What we could accomplish is to force a revulsion against the Republican party and destroy the chance to reelect President Trump with Senate & House majorities. That would most likely be a death knell for America and much pain & suffering for Americans.

It is a states issue, now, yes.
I was implying now the work needs to be done at the state level, to start rolling back liberal abortion policies in the states that have them. But its also not great to weaken our stance on it at a national level, because the states folks can use the support and backing from the national level.
You however, you could only see it one way, with your assumptions and filters.

If your position is that we should keep going as a State’s issue then your post makes no sense because the Republican Presidential Platform does not address what should be done at a state level. So there was no backing off.
