Trump’s best reply might be: “I did not create this plan, so we’ll consider it proposal by proposal as the need arises.”

Fire 50,000 progressive government union employees? Well, that’s a start.

Exactly. Of course the media and politicians on both the Left and the Right are going to decry and denounce it, and try to link it to Trump.

I had heard Project 2025 was the creation of Steve Bannon and some others, so I just downloaded it and am looking at it, they didn’t mention him in the intro.

But no matter. I will read it and report back to the thread with my opinion on it after I have read it.

My expectation right now before reading it is that it contains ideas that are good for America, and bad for Leftists and the Deep State, so they have to tar it as some radical, white-supremacy thing and tie it to Trump.

Okay, this looks like a Heritage Foundation project, so right away, I am inclined to think positively about it. People may not agree with the Heritage Foundation on everything, but it is my experience they don’t shoot from the hip like many of us do, usually their views and proposals are well thought out.

Project 2025 has a lot of good things going for it. The “expansion of presidential power” actually means giving the president authority over the thousands of agencies, sub-agencies and offices that have grown up mysteriously, suck off a huge part of the national budget, and are accountable to no one.

Trump complained about not being able to get rid of the Deep State, (that is, the unelected federal bureaucracy that actually runs things). The Executive Office actually has no authority over these agencies. No elected officials seem to have any authority over them and they are self-perpetuating.

However, the Deep State is almost 100% Democrat and thus is essential to the Dems in maintaining their hold on power even when they do not hold the Presidency. So this is why they are howling so much.

Trump should take a closer look at these proposals, or his second term, if any, will accomplish as little as his first term. Remember, it was unelected Deep State bureaucrats who shut down the country and the world economy, having duped and pressured Trump into promulgating their plans.

Project 25 is a Heritage Foundation project and Trump has said it is not his project.

You are correct in assessing that many more people are now aware they have been deceived, but you are not correct in characterizing Project 2025 in a "made up out of thin air bs". I assume this article refers to is this one: LINK: Mandate For Leadership-The Conservative Promise

I have skimmed the first 150 pages, and so far I have found nothing even remotely objectionable to myself, although I see plenty in there that would cause angst in the Deep State and The Left.

Hi Everyone, here is the link where you can download it in PDF format and review it for yourself:

So far, I can only conclude that if you find the document objectionable overall, you probably shouldn't be frequenting Free Republic.

If anyone pesters Trump or Republicans about Project 2025, tell them it's The Heritage Foundation's 'wish list' and to ask them about it.

When asked a question, you can always reply with 'I have no comment' and walk away. Let them badger. Don't respond. Walk away.

I didn’t see it the same way that you did (with respect to the GOPe stink) but I have not read it in detail yet.

Granted, things like saying we need to develop tactical nuclear weapons and upgrade our current ones are going to cause horror in some people, but those are not unreasonable suggestions and are open to debate.

I have never felt that having an arms manufacturing industry in which foreign sales are important to be objectionable, because those foreign sales also allow us to more affordably arm ourselves, but I get your drift. And saying the procurement process needs to be overhauled is an epic understatement.

From the report:

“European nations directly affected by the conflict should aid in the defense of Ukraine, but the U.S. should not continue its involvement.”

Good to see that these guys also want the Ukraine War to end.

I took a quick look at it and was surprised that it had NO executive summary! Who puts together a 900-page policy document without a summary in front? This is just asking for the Democrats to create their own summary to distort what’s in it. In politics, if you don’t break down your ideas into simple bullet points that are easily digestible, your opponents will do it for you. The authors should have known this.

“So far, I can only conclude that if you find the document objectionable overall, you probably shouldn’t be frequenting Free Republic.”

That is not the current topical point about it. Heritage and their supporters are promoting it as if it is supported by Trump. Trump has said that is not true. It may be Heritage Foundaitons “hopes” for a Trump 2025 admin. But Trump is disowning it.

Why? He’s REALLY a populist not a Conservative. He can go wtih SOME Conservative points, if he agrees with them, but in general he goes with his own points, Conservative or not.

I am going to read the entire thing, I just skimmed the first 150 pages, so I am looking forward to that.

And I agree 100% with that statement. If European nations feel threatened, they should involve themselves. Not us.

And I am fully on board with that approach, as suggested by another poster.

He absolutely should pick and choose ideas and concepts he likes and make them his own. There is no reason to wholly tie himself to that document, as good or bad as it may be.

Ideas and direction, if well conceived, should always be welcome.

And I agree he is a populist, and not in the pejorative sense that it is used. He is a populist AND a nationalist, and he most obviously loves this country from which he has gained his fortune.

I can live with that!
