MADISON, Wis. -- President Joe Biden will make his second visit to Madison of 2024 on Friday, his campaign confirmed Tuesday.
The White House is expected to formally announce the visit later Tuesday afternoon.
Biden's visit comes on the heels of a debate performance that raised concerns among some voters and political analysts, and a decision by the Supreme Court that gave his opponent former President Donald Trump partial criminal immunity.
The New York Times first reported Tuesday afternoon that Biden was planning to meet with Democratic governors in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Biden last visited Madison in April 2024, touting his student loan debt relief plan during a speech at Madison College. He paid another visit to the Madison area in February 2023 less than 24 hours after delivering that year's State of the Union address.
The Biden-Harris campaign has been very active in Madison, and Wisconsin in general, over the last several months. Both President Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden visited Milwaukee in March, Vice President Kamala Harris visited Madison in March and Sen. Elizabeth Warren campaigned for Biden in Madison last week. President Biden has also made trips to Superior and Racine this year.

I’m somewhat relieved to see the “biden campaign” is still acting as if he is going to be the candidate. The longer they play this game the fewer weeks/months the media will have to dress up kamala.
What if they had a party and nobody showed up? Bascom Hill could be the loneliest place on the UW Campus.
Trump would have had 40,000 on State Street and more lined up going back a mile past the Capitol.
Mr. Biden, make sure Dr. Jill has a bottle of your Wake Up pills in her purse. You don’t want to fall asleep on the campaign stump.
