Gov. Ron DeSantis vowed the Sunshine State won’t abide by potential bureaucratic restrictions on Second Amendment rights after the U.S. surgeon general declared firearm violence a “public health crisis.”
The Biden administration’s surgeon general, Dr. Vivek Murthy, said guns “[pose] a serious threat to the health and well-being of our country.”
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ webpage for the advisory does not list any new legal action taken on restrictions, but DeSantis warned that similar advisories were issued at the start of the coronavirus pandemic – preceding lockdowns and other government mandates.
“During COVID, unelected bureaucrats used ‘public health’ as a pretext to deprive citizens of their rights– and I signed legislation to protect Floridians from government overreach,” DeSantis said. “Now, Biden’s Surgeon General is attempting to violate the Second Amendment through the ‘public health’ bureaucracy.”
“We will not comply,” he said. “Florida will always reject the Biden Administration’s unconstitutional power-grabs.”
In 2022, when the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention worked to add COVID-19 vaccines to the childhood vaccination schedule, DeSantis vowed against any vaccine mandates for children.

I agree.
We practice CRIME CONTROL, not gun control.
Any gun control law would only be used against political opponents.
We had a local gang banger who got caught stealing cars and was in possession of an automatic weapon.
The prosecutor let him out.
Then he killed a policeman.
Would the prosecutor let a conservative go if charged with even simple possession of a semiautomatic weapon if they were made illegal?
We all know the answer.
Quick answer, EXCELLENT WORK, Governor DeSantis.
Yes!
Uh, 500 million +/- privately possessed firearms in this country.......pretty sure we’d know if THEY were a problem. Fookin’ idiots?
Pretty sure CONvid killed more folks...... Or will in the near future.
Desantis is an excellent governor.
said guns “[pose] a serious threat to the health and well-being of our country.”>>> A true scientist in the cult of fauci. Inanimate objects don’t do anything. They just sit there. Assigning human characteristics to inanimate objects is
Anthropomorphism
Anthropomorphism is the attribution of human characteristics or behaviors to non-human entities, such as animals, objects, or natural phenomena. This can include giving human-like qualities, emotions, or actions to non-human entities.
In a book or a poem it’s cute. For a health care professional in borders on insane.
Maybe they can use Chicago as a test site for this to see how it works, remove all guns from street gangs first.

Bidens immigration problem has killed more people than my guns.
You mean Florida will not comply with his mandatory wearing of masks and vaccinating children with the death shot to protect them from gun violence?
He is. Better than as a president IMO.
As governor, he has more power and can be a bigger thorn in the side of the left than ANYTHING he could do as president because unless he has the House and Senate with him, as president, his hands are tied.
I'd rather see him continue as governor there and set the standard and show the other 49 how it's done, than lose FL.
NH has a chance to turn things around. Sununu isn't running and the Republican candidate Kelly Ayotte is solid and a Christian from someone I know at church who is familiar with her. He said she's on the right side of the issues.
We really need to pray for these elections in general.
Which is obvious in the crime stats for gun friendly ME, VT, and NH, which are (at the moment) whiter than white. However, that is changing with the influx of illegals.
labeling gun control under public health coincides with their plan to hand over American sovereignty and public health to the WHO control
Ummmm - the drugs they allow to pour across our borders are killing multiples of what guns are:
18,874-The number of firearm deaths, excluding suicides, in 2023
Gun Deaths Declined for a Second Straight Year in 2023
But the toll from the OVERDOSE crisis in 2023 remained devastatingly high, claiming 107,543 lives.
Most gun deaths are from Dems in Dem cities - and the drug deaths are almost 6 TIMES as high and from Dem policies.
To cut back on unnecessary deaths - get rid of Dems and their policies
