This is straight out of my chapter on “financial globalism” in “A Patriot’s History of Globalism: Its Rise & Decline.”

Poorer countries are bribed by the IMF/World Bank with loans but only if they impose western-style budgets at high (exorbitant?) interest rates that make them poorer. This guy imposed the taxes on the po (who are the only ones left to tax) and riots ensued.
