The Texas Rangers have sparked anger among LGBTQ+ groups by again refusing to host a Pride Night during the Major League Baseball season.
Texas stands alone among the 30 MLB teams but they responded to fury from campaigners by insisting that they are welcoming to all baseball fans.
In September 2003, however, two years after the Chicago Cubs hosted what is considered the first Pride game, the Rangers invited local LGBTQ+ groups to a game as part of a fundraising event.
Some Rangers fans expressed opposition and there were even some protests outside the stadium before the game.
DeeJay Johannessen - chief executive of the HELP Center, an LGBTQ+ organization based in Tarrant County, where the Rangers play - believes it is an 'embarrassment' for the area that Texas does not have a Pride Night.
'I'd love to meet with Mr. (Rangers majority owner Ray C.) Davis and talk about why it's important. But I don´t think that's on his priority list right now,' he said.
'I think that the issue here is not whether they are losing every game or whether they are World Series champions... it's a matter of whether or not having a Pride Night is something that the ownership of the Rangers is supportive of.

Kind of surprised MLB hasn’t lowered the hammer on the Rangers for their impudence. Expect them to do so at any time…
There’s always a choice.
God does not make automatons with no choices.
That’s what the whole Garden of Eden was all about!
None would choose God of their own ability. They may choose their version of God, but that is another evil.
A proper question for reflection is, “Did you choose God or did God choose you?”

The Atlanta Braves AAA team held alphabet appreciation night on Flag Day. I wore my best American Flag shirt that day and ticked off so many coworkers and bosses.
Yup! Joining in would be embarrassing.
Everybody does not agree with this gentleman on all things (I understand) but IMHO he often does a pretty good job and he does it again in a short video on this thread:

Nope. This sort of mindset is why Disney and other woke companies are going broke. The only issues that any fans care about are whether they are losing every game or whether they are World Series champions.
We’ve come a long way from “just leave us alone in our own bedroom,” haven’t we?
NOT sponsoring a pride night is a facet of DIVERSITY.
Why isn't there a Gluttony Night? Ballparks could do their part by offering 25-cent footlongs.
Maybe they can bring back 10-Cent Beer Night.
It’s an ideology at this point...one that thinks they can force themselves on everyone, no dissent allowed! When a Christian disagrees they yell “you’re forcing your religion on us!!”, yet the same people believe they can force their ideology on everyone, including kids.
They’re just engaging in fascism.
This is the problem with these people. We have gone from, let us celebrate who we are...to celebrate our freakness or you are a bigot.
They want to force you to conform to THEIR standards...
I prefer Alphabet People because I don't have to worry about their day-to-day name changes as they make up more perversions.
Are they pitching a hissy fit?
If you don’t like what the team does, don’t support them. It’s pretty easy.
Not sure why anyone thinks a company should bow down to them. I think corporations should stop this crap. My wife works in corporate communications and the crap they “put out” from the corporate office often has nothing to do with healthcare and hospitals—which is their business.
IT ISN’T “IMPORTANT”.
Let’s Go Rangers!
Pride celebrations are discrimination against the other 6 deadly sins.
Which sports team will be the first to celebrate Sloth Month?
