In full: Reform leader Nigel Farage delivers speech in Blackpool
Telegraph ^ | 20/6/24 | Nigel Farage

Posted on 06/23/2024 3:37:11 PM PDT by Eleutheria5

Tories are a discredited disgrace, Labour is out of touch, immigration continues at levels too hard to manage, so he's come out of retirement to head a party in opposition to Labour. Also talks of Covid travesty of lockdowns, vaxes for kids, masks, beleaguered small businessmen, his days in the EU parliament, constant flotilla of illegals crossing the Channel. He was the first to call it an invasion. Entire speech is rich with substance.

“Very personable speaker, a British Trump.”

And that is how one WINS. There is not a single Brit who’s unaware of the migrant takeover (kind of hard to miss, considering their PM, and now all of the big-city mayors). And this applies to small towns as well, they’re also overrun.

If enough Brits can bring themselves to voting for someone willing to actually take on this crap, Farage could actually win.

He’s not raising expectations, though. His stated goal is to be a party in opposition in Parliament, for this year. He could win. I hope he wins. But hope in one hand...

Best line in the speech: “The Tories deserve to lose, but Labour doesn’t deserve to win.”

He is a fantastic speaker, no notes, and has spoken at several Republican events supporting Trump. You should have heard him when he was promoting Brexit and he told the EU assembly to essentially, pound sand.

That is a gift they both share. No notes, maybe a standard stumping set of points, but they can do it for an hour or more, and totally engage their audience, interacting, coming up with new jokes off the cuff, and then back to the set of points. It’s truly a wonder to behold.

... considering their PM, and now all of the big-city mayors.

Nonsense.

In England there are only 25 directly-elected mayors with executive powers. (The office has only existed since 1997, and shouldn't be confused with traditional 'mayors', who are purely ceremonial figureheads with no powers.)

Their names are:

Nik Johnson

Claire Ward

Sadiq Khan

Andy Burnham

Steve Rotheram

Kim McGuiness

Olive Coppard

Ben Houchen

Richard Parker

Dan Norris

Tracy Brabin

David Skaith

Tom Wootton

Jason Perry

Ros Jones

Caroline Woodley

Peter Soulsby

Brenda Dacres

Andy Abrahams

Chris Cooke

Rokhsana Fiaz

Norma Redfearn

Paul Dennett

Luftur Rahman

Peter Taylor

Thanks, I stand corrected. My comment was from a video (with a large following, for what it’s worth). The guy listed half a dozen cities and that their mayors were not British (at least in the traditional sense). I took his word for it.

That would have been Lawrence Fox. Unwise to take his word for anything....

Hello,

sorry to ask, but why should Mr Fox not be taken seriously? I have no clue, but when he ran for mayor of London, he seemed very concerned about England and the English people.

Must admit that he got into a conflict with Internet prankster Max Fosh, who also ran for Mayor. I had no clue why Mr Fosh seemed to be so facetious with Mr Fox.
Was it the political rivalry, in spite of the fact that both are Old Harrovians, to my knowledge?
Or was Mr Fosh just joking, as he usually is?

It’s possible both to be ‘very concerned about England and the English people’ and to be wrong about pretty well everything.

Of course😀

I‘m going to look up Mr. Fox on the Internet, because I had never heard of him before the London mayoral election.

It just struck me how well he kept himself in control after meeting young Mr. Fosh in a debate and being made ridiculous by him. Mr Fosh is a master at being offensive without being rude in any way - but he is a professional entertainer, after all, so he really has a way with words😀

And for a moment, the confrontation between both really looked, as if Mr. Fox would be slapping Mr. Fosh any moment😟- but didn’t .

Yes, it‘s a strange hobby of mine, watching such debates. I try to teach myself how to read body language and to „read the meaning behind the words“ in human communication.

All my life this was difficult for me, due to my handicap, to communicate, since I am an autistic, albeit high-functioning (sorry for talking about health issues, this is a major social fauxpas in Britain, I know - but I think it is really necessary in this case, just to explain why I had been watching this video on Youtube).

Anyway, I would like to say a big thank you to you, for taking your time to answer my ( most probably rather stupid 😔) question.
