President Trump is arguably winning this election, but we need to shoot for more than a razor-thin victory. We should shoot for a landslide. We need a critical mass of Americans supporting him, not just to get him into the White House but to enable him to enact the conservative agenda that will revitalize this country and, to borrow a phrase, make America great again. That means he needs the support of not only the Trump Devoted but also the Trump Curious as well as the Trump Dubious. He gets that by showing he is serious about governing. He scored big in 2016 when he put out a list of potential Supreme Court justices. That gave a bunch of wavering people the final nudge to take a risk on Donald Trump. He needs to do that now for the heavy hitters who will populate Trump 2.0 administration.
Listing the Team 47 superstars will demonstrate that a second Trump administration will be serious about governing. Famously, some people in the 2016 administration were less than serious. A bunch of them were outright ridiculous. Rex Tillerson? Anthony Fauci? Mike Esper? Trump would have been better off with Omarosa at State, as the Chief Medical Advisor to the President or as SecDef than those buffoons. When you have a national security advisor whose mustache is more competent than the rest of him, that’s a problem.
But this time, Trump is not going into office without a Rolodex. There are tried and true Republicans out there who are both ideologically correct and administratively competent. Trump’s greatest weakness is the impression that he’s not a serious guy, that he’s all mean tweets, Playmates, and bizarre rhetorical tangents. But that’s not so. SNIP>>>>>>

It's a mixed bag. For instance, "Arkansas Gowdy", Tom Cotton, as AG. If Kurt wants cabinet members with the killer instinct, Cotton doesn't strike me as the guy. Or has Cotton been awesome sauce and I missed it?
Surely FReepers can come up with some better candidates. Name your preferred candidates for cabinet and other key administration positions. Include a reason or two for your picks. If you think KS is correct on some let's hear it.
Nobody from Congress please. These losers have been all talk, no action. I think both Abbott and Paxton should get spots, maybe Burgum, plus Carson though he’d be better with a nice ambassador spot. Youngkin should be in the cabinet as well. Put Ramaswammy in charge of the White House janitorial staff. Sanders and her father should be considered, Miller, and others. Lots of good choices.
Kermit The Frog, as Press Secretary! Take that, Van Jones!
Ric Grenell, an open homosexual. No, nothing. Maybe ambassador to Afghanistan or Iraq.
I was thinking Tucker Carlson, but Kermit the Frog would be good, too!
O’Keefe for Press Secretary.
Paxton for AG.
I don’t have much of an opinion on his picks other than NO on Youngkin for Treasury. I’d go with another investment banker.
BTW, I do not see any rush in Trump naming his team. I’d be happy to know he’s got a good group helping him vett them, one that does NOT include Ivanka, Kushner, etc.
Why does he mention Dr Fauci as being someone from the 2016 Administration who was ridiculous?
He was not a presidential appointee after Trump’s election in 2016. He came to prominence because of covid and he was trotted out as being the world’s greatest expert on diseases. He was a bureaucrat.
The press being forced to ask SERIOUS questions to a puppet, each and every time, would be funny. It could be any puppet, not, just, Kermit. Just a thought.
Erik Prince, Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs? Secretary of Defense?
Don’t forget Ms. Piggy for Health Secretary... gotta keep Kermit focused... dontcha know.
Naming a team so soon would simply create more targets for the media. No point.
More importantly he should thoroughly vett everyone so there are no distractions. The media will be all over every tweet, every marital problem, every business and financial issue.
If something’s there, be prepared to explain or defend it or don’t pick the person at all. A revolving door of nominees will only hurt Trump.
Yes.
Fauci was there more than 30 years when Trump got in.
Kermit with a new hairdo, a blonde Trump mullet.
Schlicter’s list:
Robert O’Brien Chief of Staff
Ric Grenell Secretary of State
Mike Pompeo Secretary of Defense
Tom Cotton Attorney General
“Ben Carson back in at Health and Human Services.”
***My comment — Slestak doesn’t even know Carson was HUD Secretary. Alex Azar was HHH *****
“If he doesn’t select Doug Burgum for vice president, which wouldn’t be a bad idea, the Gov would make a great Energy Secretary”
“If Glenn Youngkin is not picked for vice president, how about making him treasury secretary?”
“Department of Transportation seems to be the place you send young guys who think they have bold new ideas, so let’s send someone who actually does – Vivek Ramaswamy.”
“For Homeland security, we need somebody hugely competent, tough, and who understands the issues. Representative Mark Green”
“Put Lee Zeldin in … at the FBI. “
Trump should meet with people who may be in his cabinet. That would spark a lot of interest. But he should wait until after the election to announce his final picks. They will have every aspect of their lives examined by the biased media, and that would create a lot of distractions from the issues.
No Tom Cotton, please. Better he stays in the Senate. Pompeo is too deep state. Trump talking to people who have the expertise but are less known would make sense now. Get ready for the debates and don’t act like you’re already elected.
Mark Levin for AG, although he’s probably too smart to accept. Maybe he’s accept a place on the USSC?
All military branches need to be purged and reset ASAP, or it won’t matter about any of the other departments.
“Mark Levin for AG, although he’s probably too smart to accept. Maybe he’s accept a place on the USSC?”
Great pick for the SC except he’s a little too old. We need younger people to last a very long time.
Communications Director: Kari Lake, because of her 10 years of experience as a production assistant and TV anchor in Davenport, Iowa, Phoenix, Arizona, and Albany, New York. Forget Broadway.
Justice: Ted Cruz. Let's see if his bite is bigger than his bark.
Homeland Security: Put Tom Cotton here. His military background is better suited to border security, immigration enforcement, Secret Service.
Surgeon General or HHS: Put Mark Green here. His also has a military background, but he became an army surgeon and didn't deploy oversees until then. He's not ground combat experienced.
HUD: Ben Carson is fine here.
Energy: Doug Burgam.
Commerce: Vivek Ramaswamy.
Interior: Kristi Noem.
Transportation: Tim Scott, or put one of Trump's kids here.
Labor: Nikki Haley. Before entering public office, she worked for a waste management company, became CFO of her family's business, held several chamber of commerce offices, and was president of the South Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners.
Treasury: Rick Scott.
Have at it.
