“There’s lots of room for cuts just starting with the bureaucracy and not even touching anyone’s benefits.”

The only way anything significant will get cut - and the Dept. of Ed is a significant Cabinet office - will be for “everyone to share the pain.” That means benefit cuts.

“If we have a dept of education why don’t we have a dept of happiness?”

We do, Health and Human Services, run by some Latino dude named Xavier Becerra!

We need far fewer college students and more actual education in grade school. Many required, first-year, composition courses are now as much about basic reading as they are basic writing.

That is true of Fedzilla as a whole. It exerts gargantuan NEGATIVE PRODUCTIVITY on the economy as a whole. Hundreds of thousands of pages of regs, millions of lawyers enforcing them are deleterious to our innovation and vitality.

So Congress can’t even agree to fund the border enforcement of the US but they’ll vote to liquidate their libtard education buddies. 😏

A major house cleaning is in order. Unfortunately the cowardly Republicans probably won’t go along with it. They refuse to even defund hyper liberal NPR for crying out loud.

Yes, he’ll need legislation to permanently get rid of it. He could through budget action RIF it down to nothing. However, without legislation RIF’ing it down to nothing means in another administration it can immediately be funded and be back.
It’s only roughly 3000 employees.

“Has there been a single department that has actually been eliminated? Not renamed eliminated.”

No. Just a long list of those that have been expanded.

We need to expand the use of vouchers in all states.

There will be a disruption to our workforce due to AI. Many jobs in our tech and govt sectors will become obsolete.

We'll have to find a way to keep our citizens occupied due to a lack of jobs.

Nope. Vouchers a central-control trap pitched by RINOs. Take the money and parents lose control.

And how does Trump propose to get rid of the Department of Education with his favorite Republicans, the RINOs?

If his plan is to dismantle a major federal agency, then he better stop making conservatives his enemies and trying to keep them out of Congress, because he sure as hell is hot won’t get it done with his establishment RINO buddies.

Same thing was said about the fence and look how far he got with that with all the resistance he got from the GOP, Democrats, courts, etc.

If he sets his mind to it, he’ll get it done.

The Department of Education dates back to Carter, but before that there was a Department of Health, Education and Welfare (HEW). Didn’t they just split off part of the existing department to create the new one?

Reagan ran on this and failed then expanded funding of the ED during both his terms, same thing with Trump. Can’t put the Genie back into the bottle people. People here need to read Plato more carefully and study the history of Administrative Law. Flame suit on, you will have to get rid of females voting first before any redundant Department is terminated.

"The intentions of the founding fathers in this matter are beyond any doubt: no powers regarding education were given the federal government. Consequently, under the Tenth Amendment, jurisdiction over the entire field was reserved to the States. The remaining question is whether the Fourteenth Amendment—concretely, that amendment’s “equal protection” clause-modified the original prohibition against federal intervention."
