. In Los Angeles, a median-income household would need a nearly impossible 81.1% down payment ($780,203) to afford the typical home, highest in the country. In San Jose, the down payment needed is more than $1.3 million (80.9%) — that’s more than the typical home is worth in every other major market. Outside of California, median-income households would need to put more than 60% down in the New York City metro area (75.3%), Miami (64.5%), Boston (61.7%) and Seattle (61.3%).

And that’s supposed to justify them buying a million dollar starter home?

Here's a nice one. Near new, only about 75 years old!
At the low low price of only $739,000
And it's huge, 981 square feet
Built in 1950 with a huge single car garage!
Make the little lady happy!
Snort!

We recently purchased 10 acres with 3 bedroom, 2 bath house, pool, poolhouse, greenhouse, loffing shed and 30X50 shop. 30 minutes from Ft. Worth and 40 minutes from Dallas and outside of any city limits. For 68K. Please don’t come to Texas and trans it in to a shithole like California.

We would pass this house in Coronado, Ca. (San Deigo area) several times a year going to NAS North Island, 609 Ocean Blvd. It was right across the road from the beach, just down the road from the Coronado Hotel. We asked one of the Navy guys about it and he said he checked it out for fun once, $4,000,000. Great location and great view. But man, the price, the politics, and taxes.
San Diego housing and rental prices have gone ballistic. I used to think of returning to SD after my career ended, but that's looking very unrealistic these days. Bad governance is turning all of California into a wasteland.

.... Yup ..... And that's the way it goes in Reagan Country. Things have a tendency to change .... Not always for the good. Will be interesting to see how the rest of the country is faring in another 30 years.

Here in northern Virginia, I just cry. My property tax has more than doubled in the 15 years since we moved here.

I know a guy who lives on an acreage in your area. He is SW of Ft Worth 20 miles. He has problems with scorpions.
He showed me a picture 0f his white living room carpet with a scorpion sitting there.
