Bible in a Year :
God sets the lonely in families.
Holly Cooke didn’t have one single friend when she moved to London for a job. Her weekends felt miserable. The city itself tops the list for feeling blue—with 55 percent of Londoners saying they’re lonely, according to a global survey, compared to just 10 percent of residents in neighborly Lisbon, Portugal.
For connection, Holly defied her fears and formed a social media group called The London Lonely Girls Club—and some thirty-five thousand have joined. Small-group meetups every few weeks offer park picnics, art lessons, jewelry workshops, dinners, and even outdoor exercise sessions with puppies.
The challenge of loneliness isn’t new, nor is the Healer of our feelings of isolation. Our eternal God, wrote David, “sets the lonely in families; he leads out the prisoners with singing” (Psalm 68:6). Asking God to point our way to Christlike friends is a holy privilege and, thus, a request we can freely take to Him. “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling” (v. 5), added David. “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens” (v. 19).
What a friend we have in Jesus! He grants us forever friends, starting with the glorious presence of Himself every moment. As Holly says, “Friend time is good for the soul.”
Reflect & Pray
What do you enjoy about friendship with Jesus? What does He teach you about being a forever friend to others?
When my heart feels lonely, dear Jesus, please point me to a good friend—starting with You.
Howdy, luvie.
You luck on to some cool graphics. Love this one.
Have the kitties - especially Peaches - settled down at last?
Hey there, radu!
Thanks. I had to search a lot for an owl tough enough to be a Marine. LOL!
Mostly they’ve settled down. Peaches is still camping at my ribcage. Practically. LOL! It’s great to be loved, though. He’s a sweetie.
Well ya did good and found one.
That Peaches is a real momma’s boy, isn’t he? :-)
He sure is. Just like Ginger is a daddy’s girl. But I don’t mind him being my shadow. I just hope he stops acting so anxious pretty soon. LOL!
I saw that it was darn hot over there, too, today. I’m hoping all this wind we’re having is about to bring down the heat for a bit.

Our 412th Maintenance Squadron’s Fabrication Flight – Corrosion Control team recently had the privilege of repainting the F-16 Viper Demo Team’s aircraft in the original YF-16 paint scheme which first flew on Edwards, 50 years ago. By looking at our past, we can inspire the future.

As long as he doesn’t trip you and make you fall! It’s nice to be loved but can be dangerous at times, though they don’t mean to make it so.
It wasn’t too awful bad today because it was a little less humid and it was breezy. Still hot enough I didn’t want to go out to do any yard work and such.
They say this stretch of 90s will most likely last through the rest of the month. Wunnerful.
Oh, I always look where I’m going. Unless he’s right behind me and I back up. But, he doesn’t like being stepped on, so he usually moves pretty fast. LOL!
Less humid and breezy sounds pretty good. Wow...90s for the rest of the month. That stinks. Then there’s July and August to get through. Ugh.
Today is Primary Election Day here in Oklahoma, be sure to get out and vote if you haven't yet done so.
Gizmo and I had the entire Comanche Lake to ourselves yesterday. Here's the pics:
How's everyone doing this morning?
Getting behind us seems to be a fun thing to them. LOL Looking down is a must when walking through the house. You have it easy. I have 21 to watch out for.
It was still plenty humid but not quite as bad as yesterday. That brief shower we had really made it steamy.
All the rain today was way over to the west. MIGHT be a few pop up showers over here tomorrow but we’ll see how that goes.
We usually in the 80s this time of year, with a 90 popping up here and there. This long a stretch doesn’t usually happen until July or August. I hope this isn’t the summer we’re long overdue for, with a stretch of 100+ degree days. They happen sometimes.
Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
Yay, you and Gizmo had the lake to yourselves yesterday!
Have fun getting out to vote today.
Didn’t you just have “one of those summers” not 2 years ago? Seems like we both did, but maybe they’re all just running together in my mind.
The three outside weaving back and forth when I’m trying to put food down are quite enough. I don’t see how you dodge 21 of them all day long. LOL
No, we haven’t had 100 temps in a while. Like we have now, we’ve had stretches of 90s with the heat index over 100 more often than we like. They’re bad enough. I don’t like that we’re having this stretch so early.
I’ve been dodging cats underfoot my whole life so it comes naturally. They get kicked or stepped on periodically but they haven’t taken me down yet. LOL
They know they’d better get outta your way! :)
Not necessarily. That’s why they get kicked or stepped on periodically. LOL You’d think they’d learn not to zip in front of me but there are some who do it over and over. Willow and Pixie are the two worst culprits.
Oh, they KNOW...they just choose to gamble. Silly kitties.
Guess I’ll finish this show and head out. See ya tomorrow! Hope it’s not too miserable outside. And I hope somehow the rain will sneak over there.
Yeah, it seems like it’s a game to them. Sometimes they win, sometimes they lose. Raimis just lost a couple of minutes ago while I was filling their water dish. Got right behind my feet and has a sore paw from being stepped on when I turned around. He never learns.
Sleep well. I’m about to follow suit.
If the humidity doesn’t drop, it’ll be a steamer. It’s thick right now and feels a lot warmer than the 78 on the thermometer. There’s rain coming up from MS into west TN now, and if it would move a little more to the east, we could get a little. For now, the air is just thick.
My dad was stationed there, many years ago! In fact, my folks spent the time after their marriage there. This was in the very early 50’s, when they were first setting up this base/training center! About a year after my birth, they moved to Oceanside, close to the Camp Pendleton facility.
