‘Are You Moving Out Of California?’
American Thinker ^ | 06/15/2024 | Robin Itzler

Posted on 06/15/2024 8:51:19 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

Several weeks ago, I flew to Texas to visit my friend Mollie, who had left California in 2022. Whenever I told someone I was going to Texas, their first question was, “Are you moving out of California?”

How different from when I moved to California in 1977…

“I’m so jealous!” That was the reaction of family and friends when my husband and I announced that, after one year of marriage, we were leaving New York. It was a difficult decision because I was close to my parents, particularly my mother. For us, the primary reason was the weather. We did not enjoy humid summers or frozen winters and wanted to move before devoting years to our careers.

In our early 20s, relocating across the country felt like an exciting adventure, especially since California was still paradise with its snow-capped mountains and glistening beaches. From the streets of San Francisco to the glitter of Hollywood and from magical Disneyland to Old Town San Diego, almost everyone wanted to live or vacation in California.

Today, leaving California is part of the conversation. Almost every Californian knows someone who has left the state and others (including themselves) who are thinking about relocating. How fast can you say Texas, Florida, Idaho, Tennessee, South Carolina … It’s ABC as people want to live Anywhere But California due to lurid high taxes, escalating crime, the nation’s highest poverty rate, the influx of illegal migrants who are given freebies, plus an exploding homeless population, to name a few reasons to leave.

Gavin Newsom is U-Haul’s salesman of the year—every year!

So, y’all I spent four wonderful days in beautiful Georgetown, still a conservative stronghold outside of Austin. But Austin’s liberal population is growing.

“Hey clownface,” With this immature opening to my response you just revealed yourself. Stay there. You belong there. You fit in perfectly.

Says the idiot who called me stupid. But please go right ahead and keep telling us how the state that voted for Reagan, Reagan again, George Bush and Pete wilson just magically switched to Democrat for no reason whatsoever

How does that help CA? And what would you expect after 1 LBJ and his welfare society and then 2 open border globalist from the Bush mob.

What amazes me is how every conservative outside California suddenly loses 50 IQ points when it comes to California elections: “Well gee all those California people must be voting democrat because the democrats are winning most the time even though we were literally just complaining a second ago how Democrats are constantly cheating at elections these days”

Lol. Talk about living in the past.
You are giving the Greeks a run for their money. Californians like you are like the modern Greeks. A failed dysfunctional society that reflects on its long-past glory. Totally denying their current reality.
The reality is coastal California, the only area that matters as far as voting population is concerned is a complete and total dysfunctional disaster.
The Inland areas that are far more conservative are a small and irrelevant voting populace. Their votes don’t matter. The coastal populace nullifies them.

CA is a lost cause. If you think it’s ever going to go back to what it once was, you’re delusional. All the low life, homeless, druggies, illegals, gangsters, extreme leftist, endless American hating foreign nationals, etc, are not going anywhere. I hate to break it to you but what they do is multiply like ants. Good luck!

Please describe how the coastal city of Rancho Palos Verdes is a “dysfunctional disaster”? What about Rolling Hills Estates? Palos Verdes Estates? Torrance? Hermosa Beach? Redondo Beach? Manhattan Beach? Irvine? Newport Beach? Huntington Beach? Costa Mesa? Seal Beach? San Juan Capistrano?

Oh wait that’s right, you know jack squat about California, you literally think the entire state is downtown San Francisco and you have never stepped foot here once in your life, your life is shallow and a void and you have decided to pick on your fellow Americans in one state magically thinking this will somehow explain why you are a failure at life.

I will be moving as I want a house next to a lake and a big yard with no fences. It is too expensive in California to buy a home. For $800,000 + you get a single story, no basement, 1/4 acre lot with a fence to keep out critters like rattlesnakes.

For $300k more or less, you can get a house with main floor and an upstairs and a basement that opens to the backyard and looking out over a lake or a creek or pond and large lot.

I will have to put up with winter so I will get a sunlamp....

“you know jack squat about California,”
lol. Please check the political affiliation of the local and state representatives of California. Dem vs. Repub. Then get back to me.
BTW, not that it matters but, when my wife, I, and our children left California we did so with sadness. We love the beauty of our home state.
It was with sadness that we did so. For the good of our family. And, we have not one single regret. It was best for all of us.
And, every single day the news coming from California validates our decision.

“Please check the political affiliation”

Good question, you tell me what the following political affiliation of the following are: Rancho Palos Verdes? Rolling Hills Estates? Palos Verdes Estates? Torrance? Hermosa Beach? Redondo Beach? Manhattan Beach? Irvine? Newport Beach? Huntington Beach? Costa Mesa? Seal Beach? San Juan Capistrano? Bakersfield? Fresno? Clovis? Simi Valley? Murrieta? Temecula? Yorba Linda? Villa Park? Redding? Escondido? Shasta County? Yucaipa? San Clemente? Tehama County? Lincoln? Apple Valley? Visalia? Rocklin? Calaveras County? Rancho Santa Margarita? Placer County? Mission Viejo? Lodi? Tuolumne County? Santee? El Dorado County? Laguna Niguel? Menifee? Kings County? Poway? Palm Desert? Roseville? Tulare County?

Oh wait, you think the whole state is nothing but SanFran, Oakland and Sacramento

Last time I was in an LA area beach city in summer, it was bumper to bumper gridlock, everyone wanted to kill each other, little or no parking, bums and homeless everywhere. The beach locals always want to kill all those from inland because they trash the place, park and block their driveways etc...Not to mention everything including gas is expensive all hell.

I equate what happened to CA, to a great big party that got horribly crashed by millions of really rude and dangerous people.

“to a great big party that got horribly crashed by millions of really rude and dangerous people.”

So are you finally saying that it was the illegal aliens and the Democrats using their presence in fake ballots that is the problem?

You are persistent. Tell me, what is the actual result, politically?
What actual difference has it made in the state? Which party controls the state? What voice do Republicans have?
I’m talking about Republicans. Not Conservatives. Just republicans. You know, weak Democrat lite Republicans. Never mind, God-fearing Patriotic Conservatives.
We both know the answer. The answer is Zero, Zilch, Nada.

This is the worst thread of the day. I see nothing of value. California has been going to hell since I was in HS. I graduated from Castro Valley HS in 1972. It was going woke before woke was ever dreamed of.

My last two months was torture. As the winner of a 4 year Army ROTC scholarship, I was ostracized on campus. Even had teachers say to my face how "disappointed" they were.

Never set foot there after graduation, went to school in Spokane, WA. After graduation, I was assigned to Fort Bliss, TX. I became a naturalized Texan on 7/8/1976.

I could care less about California.

What’s it matter? The Communist control everything in CA. You’ll soon, if not already, be outnumbered by illegals, foreign nationals and paroles...All the schools are commie colleges indoctrinating all the kiddies to hate whitey.

Do you really think this will all just magically go away someday?

“Tell me, what is the actual result, politically?”

And what party controls the Federal Government right now?

Why are you complaining about Californians unable to stop democrats from cheating their way into power when the whole country did nothing when Biden cheated his way into power?
