‘Are You Moving Out Of California?’
American Thinker ^ | 06/15/2024 | Robin Itzler

Several weeks ago, I flew to Texas to visit my friend Mollie, who had left California in 2022. Whenever I told someone I was going to Texas, their first question was, “Are you moving out of California?”

How different from when I moved to California in 1977…

“I’m so jealous!” That was the reaction of family and friends when my husband and I announced that, after one year of marriage, we were leaving New York. It was a difficult decision because I was close to my parents, particularly my mother. For us, the primary reason was the weather. We did not enjoy humid summers or frozen winters and wanted to move before devoting years to our careers.

In our early 20s, relocating across the country felt like an exciting adventure, especially since California was still paradise with its snow-capped mountains and glistening beaches. From the streets of San Francisco to the glitter of Hollywood and from magical Disneyland to Old Town San Diego, almost everyone wanted to live or vacation in California.

Today, leaving California is part of the conversation. Almost every Californian knows someone who has left the state and others (including themselves) who are thinking about relocating. How fast can you say Texas, Florida, Idaho, Tennessee, South Carolina … It’s ABC as people want to live Anywhere But California due to lurid high taxes, escalating crime, the nation’s highest poverty rate, the influx of illegal migrants who are given freebies, plus an exploding homeless population, to name a few reasons to leave.

Gavin Newsom is U-Haul’s salesman of the year—every year!

So, y’all I spent four wonderful days in beautiful Georgetown, still a conservative stronghold outside of Austin. But Austin’s liberal population is growing.

Let the cowardly fake conservatives leave, along with the leftists who invaded California the last few decades who are now leaving as well, the anti-leftist movement in California is gaining speed like a snowball going down Everest and there are no brakes on this train ca-edit

Trying to be vague for privacy reasons, but left CA 35ish years ago (had someone expose himself to me in my front yard) and have been back half a dozen times since then. Each time, the decline was very observable. The time before last, I was in Chinatown in San Francisco and the store owners followed me around. My favorite restaurant was filthy and had an extra charge on the bill to cover employee health insurance. My beloved Fisherman’s Wharf was dirty and had signs everywhere warning about car break-ins.

The last time I visited, we flew in to Sacramento, went straight to Yosemite and Kings Canyon, and left. I have no desire to ever visit CA again. And we have relatives there.

I saw that movement in OC, but not in NorCal or LA. I pray there is a change. So many regions of CA are paradise.

So according to your logic, the entire state of Texas is garbage because of Austin

The LA DA had to cheat in order to get into office last election, that tells you the voters hate those in charge

“Imagine if all the Patriots in 1776 threw up their hands in defeat and moved to Great Britain rather than stay and fight to create a United States of America.”

They did. They left England and in the case of my family, scots who fought against the crown and fled to Ireland and then America. But when we got to this new land, at the urging of their pastor, William Martin, took up arms to live free in this country. The country is partitioning, people are dividing by ideologies, at some point there will be a divorce.

California should become its own state but we should probably keep San Diego and then some land in Northern California (proposed state to be named Jefferson).

Please show us proof that the actual populations of blue states subscribe to the blue ideologies enforced on them by politicians who do not put the laws into a public vote, and if you even try to refer to “elections” then you must admit that the majority of the nation voted for Biden in 2020

Oh how cute, you actually believe what the Democrats tell you about California, because the Democrats never lie, right?

I lived in SoCal and NorCal. A lot of CA is paradise, like I said. Lots of amazing memories.

I’m just trying to keep my midwestern state from going purple. The state is red, but the major city near me is blue. However, it isn’t filthy and crime ridden and charging customers for employee’s health insurance on restaurant bills, yet.

Well I got news for everyone here: EVERY major city in the USA is a craphole right now, there is no city with over a million people that is nice right now, not one.

Every person in the state of California has the ability to write laws. Look up the California ballot initiative. If California was even remotely conservative, where are all the laws correcting the communist trend? And they do occur, but fail miserably.

My wife and I, Californians, left the state many years ago for Florida. The best move we ever made.
We saw the writing on the wall years ago. We tell everyone including family that remains, California is like France. A beautiful place to live if it wasn’t for Californians (the French).
A beautiful state ruled by the most dysfunctional people. We saw a bad situation getting worse and worse. So, as a family, we decided to get the heck out of there.
Years later it has only decayed to the point that we never imagined at the time. Thank God for the wisdom to get out when we did!

“If California was even remotely conservative, where are all the laws correcting the communist trend?”

You mean the voter initiatives which are always re-written by the cheating government so they can never pass?

California voted solid republican until the illegals and the leftists from other states invaded, but now all the dysfunctional leftists are moving back to their homestates, which includes the one you now live in, so don’t complain now that the trash is coming back home.

Stuck? Or, stupid? There are no stats that back up your assertions. Florida is a solid Red state.
Evidenced by our local and state legislatures and governor. There are a few exceptions like Miami, Tampa, and the state capital. But, the majority from Key West to Pensacola are very patriotic conservatives.

You’re whistling past the graveyard. Doesn’t matter what you do or say, with many millions of illegals already in CA, with thousands more coming every week, feerrrget about it. Not to mention the Marxist are well entrenched and in control of the state and most local governments at every level, including the schools. The foreign nationals and illegals will eventually outnumber what’s left of the former population.
