Ukraine enrolled in Nato should be a non-starter in any conversation.

Read NATO's bylaws concerning response commitments pertaining to member nations.

Uke officials are making so much US money by keeping it going that no truce will occur.

It was always about NATO and playing footsie with them that made Russia twitchy.

Off the top of my head:

armistice

plebiscites for all disputed areas
(voting boundaries in Russian-held areas to be set by Ukraine)
(voting boundaries in Ukrainian-held areas to be set by Russia)
all boundaries of an area to be at least two kilometers apart
all areas to end at a front line
front lines to be those of the ISW as of an agreed date (or those of say 14/06/2024) except in cases justly considered by the UN General Assembly to be off by more than a kilometer

no foreign troops in what is left of Ukraine
no ex-foreign troops in what is left of Ukraine
no Ukrainian membership in NATO
Ukrainian missile warheads limited to 50kg. maximum
Ukrainian missiles limited to 50km. range maximum

A Russian “offensive” devastates everything in its path.

Even Putin doesn’t want that.

That’s what they said about Saddam. Yet, as time showed the despotism of Iraq was centered on him. When the big pole gets taken down no one wants to go that route again.

Since NATO is a collection of nations seeking a defensive alliance to protect themselves from Russia, they are just whatever those nations are, it isn’t a country expanding anything.

Switzerland is getting nervous and discussing seeking membership, should they be told no, that Russia doesn’t approve them reacting to their fear of Russia? Why should Sweden or Finland, or Poland have been forbidden to join?

“Please refrain from the personal attacks on other FReepers as JR has been quite clear that those types of attacks are not permitted here.”

I saw that a while back as well, but there’s little evidence of enforcement. Of course, you can’t see those that are blocked/deleted but there are plenty that are allowed.

“all boundaries of an area to be at least two kilometers apart”

all boundary points of an area not of a front line to be at least two kilometers apart

How much of your house are you willing to let an invader keep?

That’s a non sequitur.

And a rhetorical question for simpletons.

That said, if Ukraine can throw the Russians out I encourage them to do so.

But they cannot.

So then the real question becomes: Are they willing to die to preserve exclusive ownership?

While we hear a lot of pompous bluster about fighting to the last man, no society or nation has ever done so. Ever.

They simply get tired of dying.

It is hard to believe and defies the senses but I believe you are correct. I don’t think we have seen the half of it yet for this year.

Countries are not houses. If country A invades country B, and country B is unable to drive out the invaders and exhaust their means to do so, whether it be money, weapons, warm bodies, etc, it then belongs to the invaders and it becomes their country. It’s been that way since the dawn of man, and will be such until the end.

Right and wrong isn’t the issue and is a childish way to look at this.

If someone invaded us tomorrow and wiped out our military and all fighting adults, and take over, this country will become whatever the victors desire, and the current nation will cease to exist.

That’s just how the world works. Stop getting stuck on right and wrong. The world doesn’t care.

How many times have you seen other side call Ukrainians "Nazis"?

It is the shear hypocrisy of the anti-Ukrainians that compels me to post. There is one that called the mods like a 6-year old calling his mommy because someone made a comment that they must work for Putin, this despite the disgusting weird sexual remarks the anti-Ukrainians make.
