If I still lived in my former hometown - ironically also named Portland, now reflective of both SF & Seattle in terms of overall condition - I’d launch a campaign to provide bus/plane tickets to send ALL the homeless & migrants who wanted to go to the utopia which is Portland, Maine, where there are so many jobs that dumbass politicians will ASK for illegals to come.

The jobs that can’t be filled must be low-skill. Otherwise, migrants aren’t the solution.

Let’s say a fast-food restaurant can’t get enough fry cookers. They could if they raised prices and offered more pay to the fry cookers.

Then consumers will buy the fast food anyway but complain about inflation and possibly not vote for Biden.

The jobs go unfilled because they don't pay enough to make the rent, eat and cover a car payment. If you bus migrants in and GIVE them food and shelter, they can take the jobs because the two largest expenses are covered.
