On the whole, I see paying Ukraine and helping them blow up the invading Russian military as an investment. And the Chinese seeing Russian assets seized offers an object lesson as to what will happen to their wealth if they attack Taiwan or otherwise get too frisky. The world is a harsh place and it helps to keep peace and order if the bad guys get beaten up occasionally when they get out of line.
