The soaring cost of living under Joe Biden is taking a toll on blue collar Hollywood, driving the labor unions that represent production crews to push for higher wage increase guarantees from the major studios.
IATSE and the Teamsters — which both endorsed Biden in 2020 — are currently in the thick of contract negotiations with Hollywood studios as the industry continues to reel from dramatic budget reductions that have resulted in far fewer movie and TV shoots.
Add to that the skyrocketing costs of consumer goods and services and you have a recipe for widespread financial misery in what was a thriving sector just a short while ago during the Trump administration.
“We’re in a period of time now where our members still endured inflation, more than just one year, and then endured a dual strike, where they did not have any income during that time,” Teamsters chief negotiator Lindsay Dougherty told Deadline this week.

Once Hollywood goes AI, they won’t need to build anything. It will all be computerized. And somehow, Google will get their sticky little fingers into the middle of it.
Movies already have stunning levels of CGI. Entertainment is low hanging fruit for AI to completely take over that space.
Uh, so more money-loosing “woke” crap can be oozed onto the unfortunate public? Put a chick in it and make her gay.
Hey Hollywood, welcome to the club. The smart ones will learn the skills that are applicable to the CGI and the new AI movie making industry.
Keep voting for Biden and democrats, you idiots. Perhaps some day, your wages will go higher than the higher costs of everything coming to you from the inflation you voted for.
I thought Joe Pedo had taken care of Bidenflation and we all be good now.
Uh huh. The unions struck, their members didn't make any income on strike, and it's somebody else's fault. Got it.
Soon:
$100 movie theater tickets and $55 to view at home.
And Dems will not understand there’s a connection as with fast food prices.
the last theater i visited played star wars #3. it cost me, for the ticket and of course theeater yummies, 30 bucks. i attended the cut rate afternoon showing, too.
with maybe 1 film worth it in a calendar year, NOPE!
SBOVE IT!
Wouldn’t Hollywood need to create something that people would pay money to watch?
Naturally, I did not read the entire article, were they able to provide a real example of anyone in a hollywood union suffering from the effects of inflation??
It might not have the effect they desire, but that doesn't mean it won't be a good effect.
The Hollywood studios can cut money from their safety budgets, especially firearm safety. Just ask Alec Baldwin.
They produce bad tv shows and movies.
They should be paid a lot less.
