Matt Gaetz calls Hunter Biden gun conviction ‘kinda dumb’

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) called Hunter Biden’s conviction on federal gun charges “kinda dumb” in a post on the social platform X, minutes after the verdict was announced.

Hunter Biden — the second-oldest son of President Biden — was convicted Tuesday afternoon on three federal gun charges. The felony charges alleged President Biden’s son lied about his sobriety when obtaining a gun in 2018, and illegally possessed the gun for 11 days.

Hunter Biden’s verdict comes just two weeks after former President Trump was found guilty on all 34 felony counts in his New York hush money trial. Gaetz called the former president’s conviction “the corrupt result of a corrupt trial, a corrupt judge, and a corrupt DA,” in a statement issued immediately following the verdict.

Charges are a nothing burger compared to the real crimes the Biden crime family has committed.

Had it not been for those forms, there would be no violation on Hunter's part.

And for the fact that his mistress/dead brother's widow threw the gun in a public trash can where it was later found. No one would have known anything about it.

How many people a year do you think are convicted for lying about drug use on their Form 4473? Probably in the single digits, and Biden could be the only one this year. He is for sure the only one in Delaware.

Why wasn’t child Hunter charged with 34+/- counts of using drugs while owning a gun? You know, for every count of shooting up, smoking, dropping pills, etc. while the gun was in his possession? It’s got to be at least 11 for each day he was in possession, right?

But it is not all that serious a charge considering all the circumstances. The gun even had traces of cocaine on it. The prosecutor tried to sweep it under the rug, got caught and had to do something. SS even played along. And most druggies don’t make recordings and writings about and take pictures of their habit. And his having it must have put quite a fear in Hallie.

Matt must not comprehend the law. When you fill out Form 4473 to purchase a firearm, you have a checkbox regarding the use of illegal drugs. You answer the question and sign the form on penalty of perjury. The gun shop employee reads over the application to ensure all the questions have been answered. If a yes had be checked, the employee would have stopped the transaction right there. It was checked no and a signature affixed. Hunter lied about being a drug user on the application to buy the firearm. By the time the firearm was recovered, it had cocaine residue one the protective pouch.

Lying on the form is a felony. It is the same for anyone including the son of a sitting President.

The one silver lining to the FBI pursuing the person who “stole” the diary is it validates the authenticity. From there if you support Biden you are literally supporting a pedophile.

My wife purchased a suppressor. I already had an NFA Trust. I thought it would be a short process. Unfortunately, there was a new form, Personal Responsibilty, that must be filled out by everyone on the trust that has access to the purchase. My son is on the trust so that he could participate in trips to the range with the NFA items. Unfortunately, my son decided to pursue driving flat bed trucks. He was always on the road. It took 3 YEARS to get him to provide the form and updated photo for the ATF paperwork. We finally finished it. I'm seriously thinking of moving him from a trustee to a beneficiary so that is no longer a problem.

Take his gun away, give him some kind of probation or community service, and move on to stuff that matters more.

My range shop requires TWO employees to read over the Form 4473 before proceeding with a purchase. The reason at the FFL level is that the ATF can pull the FFL if they find Form 4473 with mistakes. It's not worth losing your business over a simple paperwork oversight.

Considering 922 and the 4473 are unConstitutional... he isn’t wrong. However, lying on a Federal form is it’s own crime...

This was recently upheld in another, 7th Circuit if memory serves, about someone who used multiple home addresses and was convicted of straw purchasing. On appeal, 3-panel court said it was the fact of lying on the form, not the Constitutional nature of the form, that was the felony.
