A luxury apartment building funded by the American taxpayer is set to open in Los Angeles‘s Skid Row for homeless people.
The 19-story building, with 278 units, will open within weeks. According to The Times, the building is meant to be a “self-contained environment that will insulate its formerly homeless residents from the squalor and hopelessness around them.”

They should just house them in Circus Circus. That place has become a dump anyway.
That’s $593,525 per unit. Plus the ongoing maintenance and repairs. Also, will L.A. pay the property taxes or is it just a loss? Construction probably went to buddies and donors, L.A. probably charged themselves all their insane fees, tons of featherbedding and kickbacks.
And you, Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer, get to pay for all this. Where’s YOUR luxury apartment?
Why is there squalor and hopelessness in LA?
It will be condemned as unfit for human habitation in less than 6 months.

2 years tops before its a condemned high rise...
Well, have you ever lived down in the ghetto?
Have you ever felt the cold wind blow?
Well, if you don’t know what I mean
Won’t you stand up and scream?
‘Cause there’s things goin’ on that you don’t know
Let it roll
Too many lives they’ve spent across the ocean
Too much money been spent upon the moon
Well, until they make it right
I hope they never sleep at night
They better make some changes
And do it soon
Do it now, do it to it
Well, they’re goin ruin the air that we breathe
Lord have mercy
They’re gonna ruin us all, by and by
I’m telling all you beware
I don’t think they really care
I think they just sit up there
And just get high, take it to ‘em

How soon before the newcomers take it over with the help of Bass?
Largely because the people keep voting for it.
They tried that in St. Louis years ago and demolished it a few years later. A lady I worked with who was black send they were peeing in the elevators right away.
If it means that there will no longer be US veterans on the street, then OK - fine!
WOW - They can’t see the irony in these statements? Maybe Weingart should consider they are a FOR PROFIT organization after all since they depend on the taxpayers to put up the money for their brilliant ideas...There will be plenty of PROFIT for this NONPROFIT when all is said and done. A fool born every minute? I particularly like “our little corner of the world”. That’s laughable!
~~~The tower is just one of three planned to be opened by homelessness nonprofit Weingart Center
~~~The project is expected to cost around $165 million to the taxpayer
~~~The building will also receive financing from the LA Housing Department, state housing funds, and $56 million in state tax credits.
~~~We’re trying to make our little corner of the world look and feel a little better,” Weingart Center Assn. Chief Executive and President Kevin Murray told the Times.
“”Call me crazy, but I wouldn’t recommend high rise living quarters for people who are habitually on drugs.””
Probably one way to get them OFF drugs forever. I notice the balcony structures on the higher floors. How handy!
Where? Cabrini Green?
Pruitt Igoe in St. Louis, MO. Same vintage as Chicago’s Cabrini Green and same fate in the end.
I bet not a single American citizen is housed in this apartment building.
Now it’s time to say goodbye to Jed and all his kin. They’ve skedaddled back to Arkansas ‘cause that’s where they begin. Don’t tune back in next week my friends to this locality. ‘cause the gangs will take your car, your cash and threaten lethality. Don’t come back now, y’heah.
You’re right. Immigrants under guise of “homeless.” They’re doing what New York is doing, except they’re not using hotels, they’re building luxury apartments.
HELP others, even when you know they can’t help you back.
National disgrace. Leaving seniors to destitution then look down the nose at them.
This web forum has become a disgrace.
