Deep Ellum shooting injures 4, police say [Dallas]

DALLAS - Four people were injured in a shooting in Deep Ellum on Sunday morning.

Dallas police said patrol officers heard shots near Elm and N. Crowdus streets around 3 a.m.

Four victims, ages 17, 26, 28, and 35, were taken to the hospital.

The 17-year-old was last listed in critical condition. The other three are expected to arrive.

Normal people don’t go to Deep Ellum during the day let alone after dark. It’s too bad there is a Hattie B’s and Gus’s both are great fried chicken. Same for Pecan Lodge BBQ or Adiars for great greasy spoon burgers but don’t go unarmed for sure.

Deep Ellum used to be a fairly safe entertainment destination for visitors. What’s happened to it?

I was there like 20 years ago and didn’t feel unsafe.

It's the Dallas equivalent of Underground Atlanta but at surface level. Same cycle of crime, decay, rebirth, rinse and repeat. Building the Uber building there apparently hasn't helped.

It’s got a healthy dose of diversity, it’s been through at least two cycles of diversity then , cleaned up now it’s back to being culturally enriched again.

Same a good friend of mine lives in the M streets not close but not outside uber eats or door dash range. We get Hattie or Gus dashed or Pecan Lodge no need to go let the door dasher deal with the crowd. Vietnam restaurant in Bryan st is also epic win.
