Foxx plan to ditch evidence found during traffic stops would be ‘devastating,’ former police chief says {Chicago}

Police traffic stops have become a hot topic lately, with critics claiming that Chicago police disproportionately stop Black and Brown drivers for minor infractions, intending to turn the traffic violation into a vehicle search that could turn up guns or drugs.

Some say that the stops are fishing expeditions.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx is one person in that camp. Last month, she announced that she is formulating a policy that could result in her office not pursuing gun and drug cases that result from “pretextual stops,” traffic stops conducted by police intending to look for evidence of other crimes.

This is one of the few things this Soros DA got right.

The 4th Amendment prohibits pretextual stops. Just because some dirtbag with a badge thinks he’s psychic and has ‘a hunch’ that warrantless searches and seizures can find crimes is no excuse for warrantless searches and seizures.

But I’m sure that you’d be fine with the police showing up at your house two or three times a year to conduct warrantless surprise inspections just to make sure you’re doing nothing wrong, am I right?

Or are you willing to submit to random stops during the day to have your ID checked ‘for officer safety’?

As for ‘getting guns off the street’ I utterly oppose such a thing. I support Constitutional carry. So should you.

“I got pulled over the other day for a minor license plate violation. The trooper told me he was recording me. That’s OK, I was recording him too. Always record the police.”

I recently saw a video where a cop said that he and his friends hate stopping Tesla cars because the things have 360 degree recording going all the time. They can’t get away with their usual shenanigans because the vehicle will record it no matter which way they approach the car.

With tinted windows so common, how do the cops know the race of the driver until they’ve observed the violation and made the stop?
