Churchill enjoyed his dress-up games, too: His "romper suits" were hand-made by Turnbull & Asser. (They have one on display in the basement.) But he managed to put on a tie to go to the Palace or for formal summits.

What a waste of taxpayer $$ to ship this moron and his moron wife, plus all the staffers, SS, and military personnel to Caen, then fly 8 choppers to Normandy, only for President moron to leave mid-ceremony. Think about that...tough to be optimistic about your future, and lack of a family. I consider myself blessed: three kids and three grandkids, all live within 45 minutes of my house.
AFAIK, King Charles is not in good health, thus he sent his son, the heir to the throne, in his stead.
Just as he himself had stood in several times on state occasions - during the last years of Queen Elizabeth II, his aged mother, after she had fallen into feeble health.
He is struggling with cancer, and I am praying for his recovery.✝️
