Former President Donald Trump has reportedly started the process of vetting running mate contenders with at least seven candidates reportedly having received documents from his campaign, the New York Post reported on Thursday (June 5).
Republican Sens. Marco Rubio (Florida), JD Vance (Ohio) and Tim Scott (South Carolina), Reps. Byron Donalds (Florida) and Elise Stefanik (New York), North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and former Trump administration Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson have all reportedly exchanged varying degrees of vetting documents with the Trump campaign, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed. The source said that the vetting process has been in the works for the past month.
Trump campaign spokesman Brian Hughes told the New York Post that the former president hasn't made a decision on his running mate nor revealed when he plans to.
“Anyone claiming to know who or when President Trump will choose his VP is lying, unless the person is named Donald J. Trump,” Hughes said in a statement.
Trump previously indicated to News12 that his running mate decision would be made "probably not too much before" the start of the Republican National Convention, where he'll formally be named the GOP presidential nominee, scheduled from July 15 to 18.
“We have so many,” Trump said at the time. ”I don’t want to do that, we have so many.”
“We have many people who would do a fantastic job,” he added.
I’d be fine with Vance. Rubio would make me hold my nose as I vote for the Trump ticket, but oh well. The rest I don’t know enough about.
You are correct about the Pres. and VP candidates being from the same state. I am likewise impressed by J.D. Vance.
“Donalds is not a good candidate just because he’s black; he’s good because he is a solid and aggressive conservative. Anyone thinking he should be selected because he will help Trump with the black vote is naive.”
I agree on both counts.
“I want someone who will be trumps pitbull and terrify the commies” Yup, and step in swinging if anything unfortunate were to happen to Trump.
“The 2028 democrat is absolutely going to be Wes Moore, the current Maryland governor. He is obama2.0 but he has military cred. Trump’s heir apparent needs to be stellar.”
They’ve been grooming Moore as Manchurian Candidate 2.0 for a while.
His resume, carefully engineered and managed though it has always been, is highly impressive. He’s the ultimate “looks good on paper” empty suit. Unlike Obama, he may even be a natural born citizen, have a valid SSN and a college transcript that’s allowed to be seen instead of hidden. He may also not be married to a man.
In short, Moore checks every box that it’s possible to check as a Democrat candidate, without actually being a kid-diddler or a transvestite or both.
“Rubio and Scott of SC are non-starters.”
Agreed.
“When it comes to personnel choices, sorry to say, he was a disaster.”
No argument from me on that one.
Bump!
*I would rather he choose Vance and get Vivek appointed to replace him in the Senate.*
Like Governor DeWine’s gonna play along?
I’ll say it again. Rand. He’ll continue the fight unashamedly. Let DeSantis lock horns with him in 4 years.
Hoping for Carson, and I hope he doesn’t pick any Senators, I would hate to lose a solid R in the Senate for a maybe replacement.
Mostly because most fail to do their homework before trashing someone like Doug Burgum who is a self made business man and Elise Stefanik who is a smart tough broad.
This sounds like more unnamed sources B.S.
Trump has come up tied in a second Virginia poll.
Youngkin for VP, anyone?
I will now go duck & cover.
Peter Navarro.
Elise Stefanik is the most well spoken and combative debater amongst them.
She is not the most conservative, but neither is Trump.
I don’t see how any other choice could be better politically.
“Elise is a pitbull”
A pitbull on crank.
A real cocaine bear.
There is none more aggressive in the bunch.
When Scott announced his engagement, I assumed it was because he was the likely pick. But now, I dunno. I like Flynn or Vivek. Also wouldn’t mind Tulsi Gabbard, as I think she is all in on cleaning up the DC swamp. ( I don’t think we necessarily need to view a VP candidate as the next presidential candidate ) But I realize she could hurt Trump with certain conservatives though.

We need someone who will continue MAGA.
*Hoping for Carson*
Nope. Too old in ‘28-no fire*

Yes we do. We need to look forward. Doesn’t mean he has to be the nominee in 4 years just a big contender.
