The Russian president engaged in discussions with leaders of major international news agencies on Wednesday at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
Washington will compel Ukraine's leadership to lower the draft age to 18, then sack Volodymyr Zelensky, stated Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"I think that the US administration will compel the leadership of Ukraine to make these decisions - to lower the draft age to 18, and then get rid of Zelensky... To accomplish all of this, I believe it will take a year," Putin stated.
Speaking about monthly losses in the conflict, Putin said that Ukraine's losses amount to over 50,000 per month, including losses in the rear.
"This is associated with significant loss. I said 50,000, but this is the most modest estimate. These are 50,000, this is what we see on the battlefield. And if we consider that there are also losses that we know exist, we just can't count them. They are in the rear, in the depth, actually, it's more," Putin said.
Putin noted that what is currently happening in Ukraine is total mobilization, but it does not solve the problem. "About 30,000, in the previous and penultimate years - somewhere around 50-55,000, according to our data, they recruited. But this does not solve the problem. Do you know why? Because all this mobilization only covers losses, it all goes to replenish losses," he said.

Just assumed they already had it down to 14…
“Putin: US to Force Kiev’s Draft Age Down to 18 Then Remove Zelensky”
So if Zelensky now lowers the draft age to 18, does that make him a ‘Putin Puppet’.
> losses amount to over 50,000 per month,
And the globalists love it.

Big mistake. The young are fitter, stronger, quicker on the uptake, healthier, less prone to injury, combat fatigue, et al. But the Ukrainian government feels it knows better than everyone else.
Naah. The young’s biggest “advantage” is that they are dumb. Not incurably. Give ‘em five or so years and they will grow outof it. Mostly.
Dumb folks charge regardless of what their survival instinct is screaming at them.
AKA cannon fodder. They draw the bullets that would otherwise kill a worthwhile soldier.
Go look at real studies in the effectiveness of military units. It was the older ones, 28-38, who won all the battles and terrified the enemy.
The reason for the Ukraine having a draft age above 27 is that young generation, thanks to Soviet family planning, is very thin on the ground. If the Ukraine chews up it’s small number of 18 to 25 year olds they’re gonna have a real population problem.
Vaguely under the impression that holding the age higher is about demographics. And sheer population loss.
As with all things about Ukraine, you largely have to dismiss information post 2022.
Pre 2022 the Wiki quotes 41 million. This is down from 20 years ago. Emigration and poor birth/death numbers were eroding population pre war. Reuters is quoted with a current 2024 estimate of 28 million — though that is not all pure loss from the 41 million. It includes loss of population in Russian controlled areas. And it’s post 2022 so who knows what Reuters agenda is.
Life expectancy is 60s for males and 70s for females. This is a 10 year difference, and existed pre war, too. It’s consistent with that part of the world. Russia, Romania, Serbia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazahkstan, Uzbekistan and others extending eastward all have male/female differences in life expectancy well over 5 yrs. The reputation is Russian men drink themselves to death, but that was never clear even pre war and recent data from these other countries suggest that’s not the reason. Something ethnic/genetic is going on.
Regardless, this has been why Ukraine has held draft ages higher. They need babies to be made.
If that number is true it’s staggering and sad. It doesn’t seem possible to me.

In the old days something from Russian press was pppffffft!
Now, this seems plausible.

Images of Wehrmacht soldiers in WWII show mostly professional soldiers in that age group.
Few would criticize the effectiveness and efficacy of WWII’s Wehrmacht.

Words:
I think Putin’s “losses” are our “casualties”.
(Which includes wounded, who can be sent back to carry on the fight).
Ukraine already had (pre-war) a severe shortage of live bodies around 20 y/o.
Also...
At age 65 my Dad could leave almost of his (college) students in the dust on long treks through the woods. That was partially my Dad being fit (but no marathon runner) and largely because he was a Forestry Prof who knew HOW to move through the woods.
Now it’s true that for most, many abilities peak in one’s 20’s. But many other abilities peak later, in one’s 30’s and 40’s. It will be interesting to see how this plays out on the modern battlefield.
