“We cannot impose our will on peoples and nations who oppose us on this issue.”
We not only can, we should. We did a pretty good job of imposing our will on the Nazi and imperial Japanese regimes back in the day. And we did it when half the world opposed us.
Standing aside when over half the world would either watch from the sidelines or actively aid the eradication of Israel and the murder of every Jew there would be morally reprehensible. Anyone suggesting otherwise is an uncivilized barbarian.

Some conservatives are still living in 1945. Every time the U.S. is humiliated, they watch a World War 2 film or dream about D-Day.
Bush's invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq (far weaker countries than Germany and Japan) were the last gasp of the declining American Empire. And even in the last gasp, we failed to impose our wills on Afghanistan and Iraq.
